Expedition on a new save - What transfers?
I was hoping I could get a breakdown of everything you can transfer from a dedicated expedition save to my main and how. To be clear I made this save through the interface when starting the expedition, this is my first one.

I think that covers it, but here's some of my questions:
It says I can collect expedition exclusive items, obviously this includes unlocked cosmetics, does this include rewards from finishing quests, even if previously collected?
Do I miss out on the community bonus goal if I end now?
Can I contribute to the community goal on my main save if I finish the expedition?
I see I can collect a set few items, so I've been saving upgrades. How about money, multi-tools, installed exosuit upgrades, the minotaur, and starships?

Worried I will be best off restarting on my main.

After you finish expedition, it's rewards will be available for any save from quicksilver merchant. But literally nothing that you found during the expedition will transfer to main save. You can transfer stuff ONLY if you start expedition from main save.

Only "Phase #" milestones reward are account bound. The rest you can only keep them on your expedition save, which can be converted into a normal save.
This does mean the cosmetic items gained as minor milestones cannot be claimed on any other saves.

Ok people are giving really poor answers here -

When you leave your expedition you get something like 40 slots of regular inventory to fill up with whatever you want to put there, and 10 slots that can only take tech.

That means you can uninstall stuff you want to take with you.

You also get almost all costume unlocks. Don't do autophages in a mission however. That status does not unlock.

Things you take in :
Your ship (can claim it with 2x00 nanites)
Your multitool (can claim it with 2x00 nanites)
your costume and appearance (usually)
everything you put into the mission inbox.

NB:
some missions restrict tech you can take in. i haven't seen it but it's in the code.

Things you get out :
Whatever ship you were last on when you exited mission unless it's the one you copied in
whatever multitool unless it's the one you copied in
everything you put into the mission box including tech upgrades
all mission related unlocks become unlocked on your main account

I hope that answers your question abundantly.

Correct me if im wrong but if you start the expedition as initial save without creating it normally.. Doesn't that save become a normal save at the end of the expedition?? Or did that change with the new system for expedition.

None of this applies to an Expedition started from a NEW SAVE. If OP restarts Expedition from a main save, all of this is correct.

And yes, there is nothing stopping a player continuing an Expedition save after the expedition when it converts to a normal save.
Ending Expedition on a Newly created save:
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3300736802
Early end warning because all optionals not completed
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3300736839

Ending Expedition on an existing save (with item transfer)
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3300735328

My save files:
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3300736869
Top one: Liquidators new save ended early
Next one a new save to test 5.03 patch
Next one a standard Liquidators new save being left open to claim all the optionals
Next one is my "main save" PD, has NOT run the Expedition.
Next one is an Expedition save from Adrift which was converted to a normal save, then it ran Liquidators from the existing save and has been finished early with items claimed and transferred back to the "normal" save.

It indeed becomes normal. But normal =/= main save that you played before. It remains as separate normal save.

Can confirm it's a new save created in the liquidators game mode.

So I can just make a new character and get all the bonus rewards, even if I'm on the first stage of the expedition? Therefore you can claim multiple characters to one, main save?

And no items from my Expedition save to my main. Oof, I have more playtime on my expedition save at this point. Wildly, have have access to the chitin cosmetics at the quicksilver merchant on my main but not on the expedition save.

I gotta be honest, this feels really confusing and poorly laid out in-game. I think my best course is to restart the expedition from my main save and take the rewards a la carte. I'd like the S class multitool and extra ship. Can I still go to my main base and stuff from the Expedition on my main save? I'm guessing no.

To be clear I'm not done the first storyline either so would like to finish that on my main. This Expedition was my first interaction with exocraft too lol. Off to bed won't respond for 8ish hours

Also that list suggests you can't keep the minotaur no matter what, ♥♥♥♥

If your "main save" isn't much of a save in terms of progress and doesn't really have anything you want to keep, why not just use the new Expedition save as your new main after it is complete?

But, if you do chose to run the Expedition from your old main save, when you complete and transfer back you will be able to see your expedition base(s) in your "merged" main save.

Can I start the Artemis storyline in the Expedition save?
