Nanite clusters disappearing
Everytime I refine things into nanite clusters, I put them in my exosuit and they're just gone. So next time I made some, i tried putting em into storage container. Gone. Ive scoured through my inventory slots just making sure I'm not just somehow missing em the many times I've checked again, but they're just gone.

Ever happen to anyone else? I'm newb, so thinking maybe there's a possible reason for this, outside of a bug. Just making sure before I submit a bug report. I've lost thousands by now lol.

This is normal. You never see the nanites in your inventory, they go into your bank balance, just like Units and Quicksilver.

I'm talking like when you refine runaway mold, and it makes nanite clusters. I coulda swore you had to break those open by holding X, or w/e it is on keyboard, when i first started playing. Am I just remembering wrong? Lol its very possible.

There appears to be a bug that eats your refined items when you leave your refineries at random times.

I've lost a few things, but nanites being eaten is especially bothersome. You do have to claim them from the refinery.

i noticed the same thing a couple days ago... and i even double checked my nanites did NOT increase when removing the nanite clusters from the refiner, i just decided not to try again.

As soon as possible, it is recommended to acquire and use a personal refiner of the type that can be opened up by space anomalies and installed on the suit.
It cannot generate large quantities in parallel, but it can continuously refine as long as there is fuel available while in action, and is unlikely to be lost.
(Yes, sadly, I do not trust stationary refiners at all, as they have a bug that causes them to be lost when you leave.)

As Smurfy said above... This is totally normal.
Nanites will never actually appear as an item in your inventory...
Instead, when you transfer them from a refinery into an open inventory slot, they will be added to your total nanites (visible beside your total units in start menu)

But what about "nanite cluster"? Same thing? Sorry I sound dumb, just really wanna be sure. I really have a memory of breaking nanite clusters into nanites from my inventory. Weird.

Ahh ya thanks for the reminder. I actually do have that. I should start using it lol. There's so much stuff in this game I get overwhelmed and forget about things.

Yeah I checked my nanites before too and they didn't seem to go up, but I wasn't very exact in my checking. So I could just be mistaken.

I think after they were introduced (Pathfinders update March 2017) they did appear in the inventory. Can't remember when they moved to the bank section but it would be years ago. I don't remember ever having to interact with the inventory item though.

If you have an issue with the balance in the top left of your inventory screen not increasing when you transfer from a refiner, then you should raise a Zendesk ticket. The issue described by others above of items disappearing from unattended refiners and never seeing the nanites to claim is completely different.

Alright thanks for confirming.

i have a similar situation as the poster. when i put some runaway mold into my refiner to get some nanites i set the refiner to run and then log out. i always make a quick save before logging out. later when i get back in game my refiners are empty its been doing this all day! is this a game glitch or something i did wrong??

FYI there is a traveler in the starting system space station that leads to a grave on the starting planet. It has for myself and for a streamer I was watching live and told about it given the personal refiner for the suit as its drop.
