You get a ton of Units for taking out the Pirate Dreadnought
Why are you expecting Cargo Bulkheads or Mods?
Because he's a Jawa and wants to scavenge parts
Civilian friends are best friends when they sacrifice their lives for my profit.
You get units and the option to claim for yourself if you make it surrender...
If you take out the engines, then the game assumes you are trying to force a surrender...
But I haven't received any bulkheads from dreadnought since the Adrift update, (and I've killed a lot of them as I have 3 permanent spawn locations in close proximity in my current save, so I can just warp in an endless circle of destruction). I always get an S class freighter module though...
In my experience only current way to get bulkheads is from crashed or derelict freighters... or as rewards from envoys
hahahaha this is based!
ETA the capital freighter saved will not also have the option to ask for another reward, but you can still board and purchase it.
So how do you get to board the pirate freighter with the warp engines still active? It always warps away before I can achieve that. I've only fought two so I'm still not sure on the details exactly.
It can be done in about 60 seconds, and it will save the Civilian Fleet, AND the Pirates will surrender.
Then you can either take the Freighter, or Demand Tribute, and you;'ll get around 6 million credits, then you can go back outside, take out the shields and blow it up for more credits
For instance if you really wanna crank bulkheads, find two stations with bulkheads as envoy rewards then just warp back and forth for fast easy profit.
The S class freighter modules arent part of the envoy rewards though.
I'm just interested in taking it over. I can make credits easily.
I haven't got used to maneuvering through the trenches that well yet. I've never saved the civilian yet. I need more practice.
edit: I just tried to google for a pic of what the warp drives look like. I'm not having much luck. I'm at work right now and trying to do a bit of research so I can be better equipped when I go to take down a dreadnought.
You wont get any freighter modules this way (or bulkheads if that is still possible as a reward... I haven't seen one since the Adrift update)
You don't need to. These are 2 different scenarios. You either blow up the ship by destroying it's shields/fuel tanks/hull without destroying it's engines (important!) and get immediate reward OR you force pirate to surrender by destroying engines/ shields, turrets and get a reward directly from the captain of defeated ship.
Keep in mind, if you'll try to mix these 2 situations (ship surrendered and then you destroyed it) - there is a good chance not to get any rewards at all.
You have two main options when facing a dreadnought:
1. Destroy it (take out the shields and kill it before it warps away)
This will provide you with either 1 S class freighter module or 3 bulkheads (but I haven't got any bulkheads since Adrift update), and depending on if you keep the civilian ship alive some units nanites, and ~5-8 standing with that system's dominant race.
2. Force it to surrender (kill the engines, destroy the cannons)
This will give you some units as well as the option to either take control of the freighter or claim 5-10 million more units
Yeah, this is also true, make sure you decide which option you want and don't stray from whats needed to accomplish that goal.
