NMS might be a little too tough for him? I wouldn't know becasue it's not my call.
Everybody derps now and then, lol.
Nobody's perfect.
When you are new to a game, and it throws lots of information at you, it's easy to lose track of things/fail to think of simple things/forget about things it taught you.
I understand.
I started over. Apparantly, you can skip the tutorial so that's something.
I hope you remember all the things the tutorial taught you, because skipping the tutorial is going to start you at the point in the main story quest where you summon the anomaly and find the crashed ship.
Which is nice, because it's an opportunity to find a good ship that's better than the starting one (though the odds are against you, 90% of them are C-class shuttles).
But remember that *ANY* ship is better than the starter ship -- despite it being listed as a fighter, it has no fighter bonuses which means that any ship, even a shuttle, is going to be better (because shuttles at least have the reduced launch costs, if nothing else).
You're making me sound retarded. Thanks 😂😂
There's all kinds of things out there thaat would explain honest mistakes like this. I know i'm really out of it when i get up in the morning.
Nah, that's okay. I guess I am a little retarded.
Well, HOPEFULLY you kept the old save game where you're stuck on that Planet with no Ferrite Dust, because playing a new game, and getting the routine of gameplay under your belt, and getting used to various tips and tricks, may eventually arm you with enough knowledge to be able to save yourself from the "Planet with no ferrite dust" (insert 1950s spooky organ music)
It will be a fun challenge once you're more seasoned and familiar with the gameplay
Also, can you just switch the game mode to CREATIVE, then get off the planet, and switch the game mode back?
ahh bummer. I was going to suggest using the Terrain Manipulator in create mode w/ one of the possible choices of terrain is barren to create a line of soil that would spawn tiny ferrite rocks.
I've used the TM to create a lager square Cave hut and cut a smaller circle hole to hide in from environmental hazards. Cave terrain always recharges your default Hazard protection.
Hell.. o ... you can even use it underwater in deep water to crate a stem from ocean floor to surface to make your own tiny island to call in your ship or build a base..
Cave created terrain use to spawn a couple cave marrow and cobalt stalactites or save reloads. Gotta check that out now that 5.0 is out.

Edit:
Cave TM created = Colbalt Some very rare with gold/platinum and one Black box.
Mountain TM created = big or tiny ferrite rocks.
Base TM created = 1 tiny Dihydrogen
Terrain Manipulator = 1 DiHi Jelly 2 carbon nanotubes. If push comes to shove, a Jetpack mod can be disassembled o DiHi.
I didn't think to look what other suit tech could give perhaps some hazard mod will render ferrite.. Don't know how much you needed.
Glad you asked the question, as I got to put myself in that circumstance. Stripped my weapon of advance mining beam, and took the teleporters off my ship / freighter / Exo.
Play around with it but remember to clean up the mess or it counts in the rolling TM edits were allowed.. First in First out.
Also depending on what tech you may be carrying in your suit, multi-tool or ship you can dismantle most tech or upgrades to reclaim the basic resources used to make them.
A quick check of the in-game guide tells you what was used to make technology in your suit, ships or multi-tools and you get back half of the ingredients or resources used to make them. 'Dismantling upgrades can save your bacon...' now that's a T-Shirt slogan right there.
SPOILER FOLLOWS about how to escape difficult or unexpected situations including no player faults - Maybe don't read if you solved your issue and new to the game:
To craft or build things without resources you can change difficulty settings in game options to make crafting or purchases free, just like with Creative Mode. Then switch back to any of the default modes or custom mode you prefer. Useful sometimes if the game glitches.
The anomaly has a lot of cheap tech upgrades that can be purchased, installed and dismantled immediately to reclaim various difficult to obtain resources.
If you ever get stuck without a functioning multi-tool, the character can punch rocks or plants for resources too.
Edit: just spotted this comment already mentioning the advice.
If you have access to a two slot refiner (like the fancy exosuit refiner), you can use the formula (where "→" means the refining step):
1 pure ferrite + 1 oxygen → 2 rusted metal
2 rusted metal → 4 ferrite dust
If you have access to magnetized ferrite, that can be refined directly to pure ferrite:
1 magnetized ferrite → 2 pure ferrite
2 pure ferrite + 2 oxygen → 4 rusted metal
4 rusted metal → 8 ferrite dust
And if you want to breed ferrite dust from a little you already have:
1 ferrite dust + 1 indium → 8 magnetized ferrite
8 magnetized ferrite → 16 pure ferrite
16 pure ferrite + 16 oxygen → 32 rusted metal
32 rusted metal → 64 ferrite dust
So if you have indium and O2, you literally can take 1000 ferrite dust and convert or "breed" it to create 64,000 ferrite dust. Even on the most scarce ferrite dust planets, it would only take a few minutes to get 1000 ferrite dust.
Thanks! 🫶🏼
