Alone Amidst the Stars - Help
"Locate a long-distance transmitter" is done. Now I have to "reach the long-distance transmitter" so I can "re-establish contact with Artemis".

I can't.

It says "Holographic communication towers can be found on many planets", but I can't find any.
I've tried to google this. Every reddit post says "Just restart the mission".
I can't restart.
There is no "Restart mission using nearby structures" button at the bottom and nothing happens when I hold the mouse wheel over the mission.

What can I do? I don't want to make a new file.

Thanks.

When I have run into such things, I tend to go through a black hole to get far enough away to get the restart mission option to come alive. I assume you are to the anomaly to get black hole location from Polo.

I think you have to get out of your ship and "scan" for it, then it will show up as a waypoint

As M.V.Petra said, either Scan (c key) while in space or on a planet outside your ship while the mission is selected and it should generate you a new waypoint.

Once you have located a "long-distance transmitter" there should be a bright-red mission marker directing you to a specific holo-terminus on the surface of a nearby planet.

If you cannot see such a marker, open the galaxy map.

If not there, check the teleportation terminal at your nearest space station for same.

Still nothing? You've likely left your quest objective far behind you and are therefore lost, at which point resetting the mission becomes your only option. Hence the black hole.

My first guess is the game auto selected a new active mission for you. Check you log and make sure the mission you want is active. One of the big problems with the game is it will change the active mission for almost any reason. Got a new BP, it suddenly becomes your mission to build it.

As noted, usually just making sure it is active in your log will take care of things and scan will get you moving.

Warping or using a black hole to get far away from your current location will allow you to reset the mission if you are really stuck.

And if I, who have had my entire quest line near the Galactic core, take a black hole to the outer edge of the Galaxy and still not get the reset option for the mission..what do I do then..?

That's not how holes work. Their exit points are always a little closer to the core than they insofar as I am aware; what you're describing sounds more like a relic gate which as a 'random' space encounter is going to be somewhat difficult to track down.

You might get lucky there. Or you might not.

Since you are near the core you may as well pick a direction and start warping. Holes are more a convenience than a necessity and become ever less useful the closer you get to it.

if you have that mission selected as the active mission, it should prompt you to scan for that transmitter and put a red icon marking the location of the one you need to go to. If you left the system, you won't see that icon and no other transmitter will satisfy the mission. At any point in this game if you can't figure out where to go, one of the worst things you can do is to start warping or teleporting around as it just gets you further off track. If you select that mission and go to any terminus on a station or the anomaly, you SHOULD see one of the systems with that mark that denotes where to go, but that's only if you actually landed in that system's space station, which is what I recommend new players do first when in a new system or any system if they've not landed there yet. Even if you just land, get out, hop back in and fly off, that station now will appear on your list of places you can teleport to in the system list for a terminus/teleporter. If you have any other systems near that system that you CAN teleport to, do so and then go out into space and open the galaxy map and if that mission is still active you should see the marker on the system in question. Hope this helps

Did you use the scanner while in space flight?
Some of the story missions require you to scan from space with the quest active to locate the building

If you you can't locate the system you need, then you've have to warp far enough away for the game to give the "restart using nearby structures" option... using a portal or a black hole should work fine for this
