ough the game has a form of "multiplayer/coop", that was an add on, and the game wasn't really concieved as a hardcore MP. Given the size of the universe, you virtually never see another player avatar...except at the one extra-deminsional neutral hub/meeting place.
The multiplayer aspect is mostly useful for meeting up with a friend, and showing off your progress, builds, etc.
There is no elaborate team combat, etc. You can sort of cooperate on some types of construction.
So that part may not be what you are looking for.
There are all kinds of beginner guides out there. You could just search on "No Man's Sky Beginner Guide 2024". For specifics, the one created by "Jason Plays" is pretty good; he has been doing the game for years.
It IS important to include the year in your search. The game was released in 2016, and has had at least 2 major uipdates and a few minor ones every year, and it has evolved A LOT. Anything older than 2023 is probably going to just confuse things for you.
There is no player matching feature. So if you want to play in Relaxed mode with a compatible laid back similarly experienced person, or someone with just enough leading experience to help you along while mutually exploring, you best bet would probably be to put a thread in this forum with a description of the play style and partner you are looking for.
You aren't going to find each other in the earliest bits, however. Probably not until you can both get to The Anomaly, that hub I was talking about, at the end of the first layer of story/tutorial.
If you are going to play multi player make sure you turn PvP off. There are gankers out there.
I'm not sure how many people play relaxed. Indeed I've no idea how many people play any of the modes. I don't think there is a way of telling. You can group up with others who have different difficulty settings. The game is very flexible. However be aware that multi-player is a bit janky, and will be more so if you group as a relaxed player with someone who is on survival as they will be pestered (attacked, mauled, eaten) by things that leave you alone, or you may not even be able to see. As dreamrider states there is no central match making or grouping system as in say MMO's like ESO etc.
There is a player hub called the Anomaly and you could try asking there, or in this forum. Maybe someone else will see this thread anyway.
For general tutorials, a few spring to mind. There are however spoilers in all these vids. So if you want to experience the main quests it would be best just to jump in. The game guides you reasonably well through the start. Some would say its a bit too hand holding.
Jason Plays > https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WCLclh1QJKw < just started a new save.
Bebblebum > https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k5MnL42D0AQ < streams the game and has a lot of base building tutorials.

Or you can of course just ask on this forum.
