How do I get Sodium Nitrate?

I have sodium but no Sodium Nitrate.
There is nothing in any of the menu screens that gives me an idea.

antimatter housing can be built in an empty inventory slot... it requires 30 oxygen and 50 ferrite dust

No they aren't.
No anti matter housing listed.

Yes they are...
Open the start menu, go to "catalogue & guide", then "materials and items", then "fuel and utilities" and you will find antimatter housing there if you know the recipe.
Portable refiner is listed under "building Parts", "Buildable Technology".
If you don't find them listed, then you haven't learned to make them yet...
Antimatter housing might require you to get the quest to make a warp cell to get the blueprint

If you cant make antimatter housing yet, you can (but not always) find them for purchase at a trading terminal. Hope this helps

You get the AntiMatter Housing BP when you do the early minor quest to find a source for antimatter. Then you craft it in your Inventory from Oxygen and ?Ferrite Dust??Carbon?.

Unfortunately it IS possible to receive a sample of Antimatter before that, from a crate or as an encounter gift. Just hang onto it, be patient, and DO the Antimatter quest.

Or ... you can buy a Housing at most space stations, and from almost every Minor Settlement local vendor.

If you haven't, might I suggest starting a new game instead of an old save? The tutorial will walk you through everything in this thread. Either way, antimatter housing is a crafted product like metal plates. If you know how to make metal plates or carbon nanotubes, it'll be the same process. If the game is asking you to do something you don't have a recipe for, there is usually a different quest you can do that will unlock it.

For antimatter housing, it's been a while but I think you have to progress in the Unknown Signal (or whatever it's called where you get annoying cryptic messages from some unknown source) questline by scanning things down from space? Not entirely sure, but be sure to check all your quests and try to advance each as much as you can.

you craft a refiner. its part of the questline like one of the first things you do.
