Alt-Tab breaks the game's fps, DLSS, Fullscreen to windowed makes the game run at 5 fps from 70-80 stable fps
For some reason I cant find a solution to this, everytime I tab out or click out of windowed this happens, when changing dlss quality(also with other like fsr same happens), and it takes like 20 seconds or forever to go back to normal or changing it a couple times again until it clicks in and goes back to 80 fps, there is some big issue here we are not seeing, pls someone get a solution

From my observations it seems like the game suspends itself whenever it isn't the active window. Like if I'm in a sever weather storm and tab out my hazard protection doesn't go down at all until I tab back in. It's not a drop in frame rate so much as a complete suspension of game functions.

rtx2060 6g, r5 5600x, 16g ram, ssd

ive found kind of a solution investigating, but the game is broken, 3 setting:

Textures to enhanced-high
Shadows to standart or enhanced
Reflections to standard

and then keep the game on Borderless, Fullscreen bugs on every tab out

This fixes the problem partially, but they need to patch this, the problem I think its vram usage, setting bug out and overload it, its that or window focus problems(the games thinks its not on screen and lowers fps like its on the background), eitherway this fixes most of the problem, some setting will lower your fps like 50%+- for some reason and swaping Dlss quality or fsr fixes the fps loss and goes back to 100%, ive tried everything out of game, nvidia setting etc, this is the only thing that fixed it, just keep those 3 settings low and on borderless

My experience is it depends a lot on your rig. My old computer (which was pretty good back in 2016 when I bought the game) always did well but alt/tab would kill the framerate when I came back to the game.

For whatever reason, my new computer, which is not quite cutting edge but in the upper reach of progress, seems to handle me alt tabbing out and in with no issues. Not technically aware so have no idea why one works fine and the other didn't....but just a note that it does seem to be a case by case problem. (Hard to patch for that)

I alt tab all the time and no problems.
I'm not saying your having issues.
Just saying it does fine on my pc quite fast.

My computer is quite old, i usually just window key out.

The punishment for doing that is much slower portal trips

"normally" the alt+tab will dont make such problems if you play the game in same resolution as your res. from your os setting.

same issue here.
No problems on Linux. (Yeah, I'm a bastard).

There USED to be problems with this on Linux but they eventually went away (Several years ago).

So my suspicion is that your problem lies in the OS not NMS itself.
