Not sure what is the point of an exocraft?
Seems not very useful, what it can do, I can do it by feet almost at the same speed. I'm missing something probably?

It looks cooler, you can install environmental protections, and get a scanner for buildings. Plus you get extra storage space.

Honestly just good for the scanners seeing you can pinpoint scan for like drop pods, buildings, ruins, ships, freighters and the lot. The space is so small in anything but the colussus, but even then it is just so damn slow.
Are you joking m8??

I'm based on an "Extreme Conditions" COLD planet where you're hit by a hailstorm every few minutes plus lightnings striking the ground everywhere!! :reterrified:

I couldn't explore that planet without my Roamer!! :2018spacefox:
I also had to put a Cold Protection Shield on the Roamer to avoid damage...

I could see how it could be useful if either the planet was full of predators or if you had to cross vast stretches of land fast and the ship can't be called, but that would require a more involved game design, like areas where no communication can be done (so you don't call your ship) or areas where there are very dangerous predators, etc. But that's NMS ...

Well, the other big difference (PLUS) for me is that I can collect tons of materials quickly with the mounted mining laser. There's also something you can't do while on your ship, which is scanning for specific buildings in the area. :yay:

Ah! You're pulling my leg, are you? :steammocking:

Since the recent nerfing there is almost no point. With the module that refills launch fuel for your starship and a nice set of movement modules in your exosuit there's really no reason or need to use the exocraft for anything other than storage. You can move faster over most terrain on foot and just leap frog with your starship

I agree with you, never use them, even on extreme planets.

Property equiped the Nomad is much faster then on foot over most terrain and as benefit of skimming over water. The Roamer is not as fast as the Nomad but it is still faster than on foot.

Select a POI that is more than 10 minutes away on foot then jump into the Nomad and check the time.

I use them, but I find they go faster than the terrain generation can keep up with, which becomes quite a problem.

You might want to take a look over your upgrades if you need an exo to survive extreme planets mate...

The exocraft are pointless...with maybe an exception for the sub. It is ok if you don't want all the underwater suit addons. They might not be so horrible if the field of view was better...but it is terrible.

Just upgrade your suit and you can stroll around in extreme weather for hours.

With good upgrades for the engines and acceleration boosters you are much faster to explore a planet with exocrafts, especially if there's low gravity. And it's cool to boost/jump on the summit of hills or mountains. Then, as said you have additional means to scan for certain locations that you otherwise would take longer to find. The only exocraft which I don't see much usage is the 'Colossus', it has plenty of slots but is the slowest, maybe it has better weapons against sentinels?
The Nomad can hower over water and is faster than the submarine I think.
