S-class freighters in pirate systems

So the consensus seems to be that S-class ships rates in pirate systems is 5%, which is substantially more than the 2% in 3 star regular systems.

Anyone figuring out the spawn rate of S-class freighters in a pirate system? I've seen Bs and Cs but nothing higher yet.

I'll start looking. You can just go in any system freighter and use the visor to see the class really quick. The chance for S spawn should be the same as freighter-fight versions.

Actually, an interesting test would be to pulse away and recheck the same one to see if the class stays the same.

Best I got was an A class 40 slots. Oh I'm getting it for free as first freighter.

No
1 star = 0% S-class chance. (ships and freighters)
2 star = 1% S-class chance. (ships and freighters)
3 star = 2% S-class chance. (ships and freighters)

Pirate systems, supposidly have a 5% chachance for S-class ships, but as far as I know, no one has determined what S-class chance of freighters are in pirate systems.

The files are a little unclear on pirate system spawn percentages, but combined with testing from multiple people, it seems pretty clearly 85\5\5\5%

Freighters and ships use the same values for S-Class chance, @GAladhfinn (in all systems). So it's 5% for both.

This has been confirmed by modders; changing the chance for ships to 100% also leads to freighters always being S-Class.

I decided to try a pirate system that I discovered. First try it say S 25-5-0 and 60m?? I went to talk but it wouldn't let me take it - pressing buy button only loops back to same dialog. Looks like a freaking glitch. Oh well.

Thanks for the replies. That is great to learn. I thoroughly enjoy working to get that S-class, be it a ship, multitool or freighter, but I've always felt 2% was too low. I'm definitely going to camp a pirate system to see how this plays out.

@Galadhlinn, yes, same here. Though I also take issue with S-class being more common in pirate systems than in 3* economy systems. That's like suggesting that more people drive their porsche around in the hood than do in wealthy neighborhoods, imo.

I get their reasoning...developers love to do things like this to "encourage" players to spend more time with their newly added stuff. But ....it's dumb.

I personally just modded it and changed the chance in 3* systems to 5% and pirate systems to the 3%. It's not like it's easier to find 3* systems...if any thing, I find it easier to find pirate systems.

Ah got the S class at last! About over an hours work. It's a pirate galaxy with 3 star economy that I don't pay much attention to. Never would have thought to look there but it has the exact freighter I want, the long Star Wars like one. Thanks OP!

Thanks! Here's a screen shot. I thought it's funny I only have 69mil and it costs 178mil. Not sure what to do with the freighter but I'll figure it out later. Back to normal exploring.
