Ladder won't allow vertical shaft

I am on a planet with huge cube plateaus. I am trying to build a vertical shaft under my base. I was able to place one ladder and now I can't get another one to connect to it. When you build the ladder it creates a hole in the floor that the ladder attaches to. I don't see why I can't stack these on multiple floors for a continuous ladder. I'm trying to do this in a cuboid room.

The snap points for ladders aren't the other ladders, they are basically in the center of the room (either cuboid or the large round and square ones) or shaft. You need to hit the snap point in the room or shaft. that orients it the same as the ladders above and/or below to make a continuous ladder.

I was just doing this myself today, making an underwater base connecting up to a surface one and the ladders in the shafts were way more finicky than I remember them being the last time I did it, but they do still work.

The wierd ladders specifically for cuboid structures are even more finicky than the ones I was working with.

Should this work with a single cuboid room or would I need to build a 3x3 square of them since the ladder has to be in the center of the room? I was able to build the first ladder with just one room.

If you're using the special ladder for cuboid rooms, I'm pretty sure you also need to put in the cuboid flooring for those ladders to work.

The ladder has it's own floor with a big circle cut out that takes up most of the floor tile. I think if I put down a cuboid floor it would cover up the opening. Going back into the game to see.

It's working now. Either exiting the game fixed it or I wasn't holding my tongue the right way.

LOL, Probably exiting the game. There are a couple of bugs related to base building that are resolved (at least temporarily) with a exit and reload.

no need to exit... just save and reload... that generally works to get everything loaded properly...
