Robotic lifeforms
I've completed Adrift and then started a new character and have to ask about finding the robotic lifeforms. Last time, I found them pretty easy but in several different systems. This time around, I've been to 8 different red systems and only in this last system did I find any, and found two on the same planet, but they are the only fauna, apparently, on this planet aside from the worms, corrupted sents, and the brood (what I call the somewhat scary looking Horrors). Lots of plant life, none of it robotic, but nothing else.
So I have to ask out of sheer curiousity: Is it common to find more than one RLF on a planet, and are they on more than one planet in any system or not (as has been my experience so far)? I've played almost as much time just looking for RLF's (about 4 1/2 hours) as I have in almost finishing this second Ex13 I'm on.

The robotic lifeforms always come in pairs, the only two fauna on a planet, only in Uncharted systems. They can, however, appear on any type of planet or biome. A quick way to find them is to use your freighter to warp to any Uncharted system and use the freighter's planetary scanner. Look through the list for any planet that shows a total of only two fauna,

If you have the Indium Drive ... just teleport back to the starter system Issiugr...Here make the mission active and in a very close range a system with 2 planets (each has 2 robots) will be on your galaxy maap marked..

Awesome, thank you for the tips, but do either of you (or anyone) know if it is "the norm" to search so many systems before finding any? I would have thought that more planets = better chances of finding them, now I know. (And knowing is half the battle, G.I Joe! lol)

In my experience, the robotic fauna tend to be rather rare. Most Uncharted system won't have any.

RNG is a fickle mistress. Sometimes easy, sometimes difficult. Start complaining if you can't find any after 20 systems though I think now you can even use your materials log and ask the game to find them - which is why they became a part of the expedition - to show us an upgrade to the game.

Thanks, Foxglovez, but once I found the first two in one system, the next system had two as soon as I got out of my ship, like they were waiting for me. Still, took nine red systems (and 3 blue systems mixed in with them) to find any, I figured it shouldn't have taken more than five red systems after reading they were more common in red ones and my last venture into this expedition. But gives me more info on chances of finding what in case someone else has a similar issue. Hope you all have a great night and week, thanks!!

"Mechanoceris is a robotic creature and has a ten percent chance of manifesting in groups of two on planets in uncharted systems." From https://nomanssky.fandom.com/wiki/Mechanoceris

The reason that you find them more often in red systems is that red systems have more uncharted systems than any other color (95% vs 40% in blue or green) If you have an economy or conflict scanner, just keep picking uncharted, regardless of color. You should find one about every 10 jumps. expect 1/10 systems on average. Note that 20 system search without finding one is possible under rng rules, but not very likely.

It's a 10% chance per planet in uncharted systems, so far more common than 1/10 systems.

Thank you two for the answers as well, I have not played in a while and I did not even know what I was looking for

FYI I am currently playing expedition 13 and I am on Upus Tau with 3 robotic lifeforms. Everything I have read is that they only come in pairs. If I was not in expedition, I would include portal address. System is 'Smoke' on Dayz best streamer :) discovered by PainfulFranky.

Need a pix showing all three. Never ever heard of any number of different mech species other than two on a planet but the game changes so it's a possibility I guess. Also, you have better chance to find them if there are 6 planets in uncharted systems, more planets, better chance.

You can get 3 or 4 (maybe more, but 4 is the most I've seen) robotic lifeforms on a planet since they introduced a lot of new types in the Worlds update. They're still found on the same uncharted planets though.

Without photos of more than two it feels a wee bit like we're talking unicorns here...

I've been sent to systems that had planets with 4 when expeditions needed those scans at least twice so far this year, so they can't be that rare.

I think every planet with synths I've ever visited had 4 different lifeforms.
