2. i don't recall if there is a power indicator in-game or not... this info is available on the wiki page for each item, though...
3. no, not yet... many of us are hoping HG will do this so we can tell when we have fully mined a resource... if it comes back, that would tell us that it respawned... but we can only wait and hope...
Well I also saw those outlines form around copper, salt, gold and such. It would make mining a lot easier seeing those outlines. But usually approaching/staying in the area for a few seconds makes those outlines disappear.
I thought I clarify a bit what I mean, I hope we are talking about the same thing and that there is an option/toggle for them!
Thanks for you answer!
there is? i only know about triggering the scanner which shows them with the oxygen flowers and similar... yes, all materials that can be mined with the Terrain Manipulator are shown with this scanner when you are close to them... and yes, after some time, the indicators and outlines go away... this is normal...
you are quite welcome ;)
Been asking for this for years now. I don't think it's gonna happen. It is kinda annoying for an icon to remain after you've mined. I just note the direction of my searches when mining so I don't double back on something I've already mined.
I just found (on accident) what you meant with 'showing oxygen' and stuff, somehow, after a week of playing, I did not figure out pressing C also triggers those outlines haha, I thought it only showed you where those carbon crystals/oxygen plants/hydrogen is. I thought resources had to be found and tagged with the visor only!
Yeah I make mental notes as well. However my sense of direction in a game, is not as good as it is in real life. Out in the real world I seem to have an inner compass I can't use in games!
Haha yes, directly north and directly south we go! Thanks for havin' me!
It is virtually impossible. I've TRIED!!
BTW, a ship scan will trigger the mineral grid graphic overlay as well, but you have to be CLOSE, and it doesn't even last as long as it does with an MT scan.
Also, the deposit scan grids are color coded to the mineral in that pocket.
I don't think the "surface" mineral deposits DO respawn. At least not in any human usable period of time. I had a couple of mining "pits" within sight of my home base, which I used regularly throughout a 2000 hr playthrough. (Damn, I hated it when I lost that to a glitched save.)
No respawn, throughout. So counting from when they were mined out, mmm, probably about 1700+ hours of play.
Now, I probably never used up my total terrain edits in that whole game. (I backfill most of my holes.) But the mineral lode itself is not s'posed to be subject to the terrain edit/refill limits.
So I'm guessing that we would probably have to wait for truly geologic periods of time for any respawn.
I'd still like the mined out icons to disappear from the horizon, though. However, since I suspect that they left them in to aide re-finding partially mined or AMU equipped deposits, I doubt that they will remove them.
Maybe a color change though ...
2nd when your about to place a part look for the red lightning bolt next to the items name
3rd Probably not
2. Unfortunately no, but that is why free power is so abundant in the form of solars and batteries - you can just spam those and not worry about power (Or find a power hotspot and really never worry)
3. This already happens, if the marker is not disappearing, then there are still resource voxels left.
Unfortunately, due to how the game handles voxels, they may be unminable because you destroyed all the attached voxels and single voxels are invisible - To fully mine the deposit you will then need to build back terrain into the voxels (Again, C for scanner to show them) and mine that terrain to properly destroy the voxels of ore.
But once every voxel of a deposit is gone, then the icon will disappear, but only once every voxel is gone, which is a very difficult, tedious and generally not worth performing task.
