Guild Envoys how to find?
Outside of having to pick a mission to point to one, any way to find which station has what?? Having to go to random stations seems kinda REALLY dumb and backwards, on top of the stations in the list always being in random spots...

In the Galaxy Map, you will see "Region:" next to each Star's name when browsing stars to warp to.

Every region will have 1 (and only 1) Envoy in its stations. Want a different Envoy? Go to another region. It's kinda stupid, but that's just how it is.

IMO, I'd find 1 of each Envoy and make a base somewhere in that region, and name it something you'll remember which is which. That way, you have 3 systems in your warp list that you know has the envoys you want or need.

So still random jumps nothing implemented yet, got it.

Not quite random.

Jumping to other systems in the same Region will yield the same Envoys. So if you're in Region XYZ, jumping to another star in Region XYZ is useless, go to another Region.

Since you only have 3 envoys to find, you will eventually find the ones you want, and once you make bases in one of each region, you'll never have to guess again for the rest of that save file.

Yes but the method is random, you just mark them down.

YES - you cannot tell what guild by just looking at the regions name. And what you call "random"... hmmm I think there's another name for it.... :nmsatlas:

Having to "get lucky" and jump into places you haven't been yet to find something that "Might" be there is indeed random.

Imagine that. A game built entirely around using Procedural Generation has random elements. Who'd have thunk?

I will agree that having some sort of indicator on the Galaxy Map next to the Region Name might be nice, though.

I think the complaint isn't that it's random, it's that there's no way of knowing until you warp there and potentially wasting a bunch of hyperdrive fuel trying to find a certain type of envoy. Which, I get, that feels like an oversight. I think that kind of complaint is warranted.

However, I think the severity of it is a bit over-exaggerated, it's not THAT big of a deal, a minor annoyance.

But now that they know that warping to different stations in the same Region is useless, and they know how you tell where different envoys might be, that should cut down the wasteful warping a bit.

I partially agree, but the same thing is true of a bunch of other things.

There is no way to see what planet types (and thus harvestable resources) are in a system until you warp there, there's no way to see what ship models you can get in a system until you go there and look at them, there's no way to see what multi-tool types are in a system until you go there and spend some time farming multi-tool cabinets, There's no way to see what upgrade modules are sold at a stations tech vendors until you go there and look, etc. etc. etc.

Even things as big as conflict level and economy type and level are not visible without special installed tech.

The game is filled with things you simply have no way to see until you go look. Where you draw the line on what you think should be transparent ahead of time is entirely arbitrary, unless you feel they should make all of that (and more) as something that you should be able to check and see ahead of time.

I also think a big part of the complaint, is that "Space Stations used to have all 3 envoys on every station, and now they only got 1" and I think that's also a valid criticism.

The station (and by extension, the guilds) feel less useful/less pleasant to engage with because they suddenly decided to "nerf" the stations by putting only 1 of them at random on each station, it feels like a downgrade.

And sure, when you have 20 pirate transponders that you want to turn in, and you gotta find a mercenary guild NPC and you spend the next 30 minutes warping until you finally find a region that has a mercenary envoy, it feels annoying.

And then you find out the real kicker......

IT'S TIME-GATED. You can only trade 3 of them in and then you're told to GTFO. (at least I assume it is time-gated. It could be "only 3, ever" for all I know)

Which is.... stupid.

They added an item that is specifically for donating to get rep, but yet the tooltip makes it sound like you get rewards for turning these in, and.... you go all over the flipping galaxy looking for where to turn them in, and your reward?

1 rep point per, and you can only turn in 3.

And you have 20 more taking up space in your inventory. If I'd known that I probably wouldn't have bothered.

How do you figure?
There has always only been only one guild's envoy on a space station (it was the NPC that was between the mission giver and the cartographer), it just didn't used to matter which guild they were from so no one paid any attention to it.

Unless you are talking about being able to pick up missions for all 3 guilds, which is still something you can do.

I'm fairly certain they didn't actually change the RNG element of which guild envoy you find at all. i.e. it was always region specific. We just never used to even pay attention to it.

BTW, it's not really time gated. If you leave the system and come back you can donate more. So if you teleport between two stations that have the guild you want to work on, you can max your rep through donations, limited only by how much of the donatable item(s) you have available.

Huh. Coulda sworn I remember seeing all 3 on the same station before the update, but maybe not.

It is true that I used to never care about that whole side of the station, other than the Cartographer NPC and even then, that was seldom that I ever messed with that NPC, because of the way the maps are grouped up.

Like just yesterday I wanted to attempt to find crashed ships to finally make my own ship, bought 10 maps... 6 of them were Abandoned Buildings. /eyeroll

I really don't feel like saving and reloading over and over and over again to ensure I get a crashed ship instead of an abandoned building.

I wanted to make a fighter, and I did this in a Vy'keen System and found 3 explorers and 1 shuttle.

you don't...

1. you use a map...
2. if it is not what you are looking for, do another, and another, and another until the one you want pops...
3. do not visit any of them except the one you want...
4. when you use a map and it pops something already found, you keep that map for another attempt...

no saving and reloading needed...

Another option is just save yourself all of the jumping through hoops and just use the mod that splits out crashed ships from other distress signals so that it's a different map entirely for each of them.
