Playing without the storyline. Is it possible
I want to start over with all the new updates, but i refuse to do it and play through the complete tutorial/story line.

I don't want to be bothered by them. Just ignoring them is not enough. I don't want to see them in my quests. I don't mind the general quests. I can't stand playing stories over and over again. I find they ruin this great game.

How do I do this?
I sometimes play in VR.

So far as I know, the stories/quests will still trigger no matter what you do, but you can play the game without doing any of them. I do some of them sometimes, but mostly I ignore all of them. I believe there is a mod that nukes all the lower-right notifications, though I don't know if it's been updated recently.

You cant. The mission is always there. If you choose the exploration mission, it rarely cycles back to the artemis mission.

This is not possible.

You're missing out on some appearance modifier presets and a multi-tool if you ignore it.

Get the narrative out of the way and it'll never bother you again. Takes maybe 10-15 hours.

There are also difficulty settings you can alter to ease the transition.

I just can't do them again. Its not worth it to me no matter what the new updates are.

I hope the devs fix this.

Its like reading a boring story over and over again. Kinda like going to hell like a punishment.

Extreme Survival and Permadeath, due to its inventory limitations (both modes), and the deletion of the Permadeath game, is a guide, as there are no levels of when you can take on greater challenges

Finding the right order and when is another story

If you want to start with no history, wait for an expedition, then customize it and remove it

You can at least start your save as a custom game and turn off the tutorial. As of the Omega update, if you do that, you start with all the blueprints you normally get when doing the tutorial and it's all preinstalled. (So your starter multitool comes with the analysis visor and the terrain manipulator pre-installed.) Also, you don't have to repair anything because nothing starts out broken. To get Anomaly access, you do need to do the very first step of the Artemis path, but the rest of it and all the other quests can be ignored. You'll just need to get the stuff they give by other means, if you want the stuff.

As I said, the quests will still trigger and they'll clog up your log and you'll still get nagging in the lower right. If that's a dealbreaker, I understand, but you do not have to do any of them. As I said, I generally don't. I don't like directed play. I'm a pure sandbox fan, and I like to make up my own rules.

I tried ignoring them last time. Which means the tutorial takes longer because you have to do them to get what you need to survive.

I want a real survival game where you don't need a story. This game is amazing and the devs destroy it by forcing the storyline.

As much I hate MTX, I would pay to get rid of this long drawn out boring story.

It's too bad there's not a folder you can put quests in that you never want to do. Drag n drop in the folder, the folder would show but unless you opened it, all that stuff would sit quietly waiting, with nothing flashing lower Rt screen. Click on it to open, pull a quest out you might want to do and put it back in if you change your mind. Would so like that. The ultimate QoL update.

That would've been a nice thing to have in Morrowind! Thanks to Expedition #8 I just want to be able to complete the story without ever touching a base computer.

SPAM folder. Codename: Coventry.

I guess that depends on what you consider to be needed to survive and also on what you like to do or want to do in the game. As I said, you can completely disable to tutorial so that you do not have to do it at all, and you just "wake up" on a planet with all the stuff that you get if you'd played it, including a non-broken starter ship. I play with the tutorial disabled, and I have no trouble finding what I need to survive with it off and without doing any of the stories, all of which are really just tutorials with a shortcut to getting the stuff that once came with a new update. (Though in all honesty the "survival" aspect of the game doesn't last very long, unless you impose strict rules on yourself about how much you can carry and stuff like that.)

The storyline isn't forced at all, though, unless you consider the log-clogging and nagging to be "forcing." I find that that's easy enough to ignore, but as I said, if it's a dealbreaker for you then it's a dealbreaker. I hope you can find a game more to your liking.

The base computer, well, it turns out that once it sends you to some coordinates, you delete it, you go to the coordinates, you go to the space station, you talk to everyone, you go back through the teleporter, it sends you to other coordinates, you delete the base and you create it there, and you continue until it ends, in the systems you visit you have all the resources for the rest of the game.

theres a guide to skip it using save editor https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3026134039
you only really have to go to the point when you can summon the anomaly, after that you can go your won way and ignore the storyline unless you want to unlock the Autopage stuff
