Once there; you get to chose to keep ONE of three parts: cockpit, wings, or engines. You salvage that part and it's put like a resource into your inventory.
Once you have three parts needs for a ship [they must all come from the same ship type]. You buy a engine/hyper drive type from a ship dealer there [the same ones that sale upgrade parts for ships] and then you can assemble the ship.
Just note: You can only use those parts ONE TIME. So, get it right the first time or you have to get the parts all over again.
Personally dislike this system. You can only build the ship once - can't later edit it. And you have to collect tons of parts if you want to build anything more than once.
so if i get a certain type of wing. I have to scrap a different ship with that same type of wing over again if i want to make a 2nd ship with that particular wing?
Yep. Well, at least until people get the save editors updated to work with this new update; anyways.
Basically; let's say you want to [for whatever reason] make two identical fighters, but different colors. You will needs 2x copies of that wing, cockpit, and engine type; and then buy two of the "cores" [whatever they are called] from the vendor.
Because every part being a one-time use. Will not make me want to build my own ships. Especially sense the hauler have 10+ pages for wings alone when I quickly looked ><. lol
