Salvaging an S-Class, Bad Idea?
I have been buying and salvaging ships for components, and i happened upon an S-Class Hauler (I named the system 'Glados' if anyone wants to check it out).
I was curious, is there any perks to salvaging an S-Class ship for ship components? cuz i bought it originally for that purpose, but since it's an S-Class I don't want to unless there is a benefit.

If you SALVAGE an S-Class ship, for a ship building component, there is apparently no advantage.

If you SCRAP an S-class, you get 1-3 (once, I got 4) Storage Augmentations (expanders), and usually 2-4 S-class Starship Upgrade Modules. Plus reclaimed materials worth about 70% of the nominal value of the ship as of its current state.

BTW. If you REPAIR the Cargo slots of a found ship, the gain in the 'as is' value of the ship for scrapping is generally much greater than the cost of the repair materials.

If you are scrapping, you also want to remove for re-sale any functional Upgrade modules that are installed. If it is a REALLY good module, like a +37/38% Shield Upgrade, you MAY want to consider repairing THAT module and removing it as well.

However, repairing the broken Tech slots, and the installed equipment, beyond the couple necessary to get it off the ground, adds nothing to the scrapping value.

Finally... an S-class Hauler is nothing to be sneered at, especially if you found it early in the game, when you have a storage/carriage pinch. Are you sure you don't want to keep it, and fly it, repairing it gradually. Besides the capacity, those babies are TOUGH as all get out.

When salvaging parts to build a new ship the class of the existing ships doesn't matter. Parts have no class associated with them.

If you scrap it they should scrap it for money and techs. You will probably get a few cargo expansions out of it

Do you wanna tell him? Do you want me to tell him?
Quiet the opposite. It's a good idea to salvage this S-class. You'll get S-class upgrades and with an S-class you are guaranteed to get 1-3 storage augmenatation(s) when scrapping it.

If you don't want it, trash it.

I trash S classes all the time.

I find a crashed S I trash it. I don't buy them to trash. At 15+ million units it's silly but then again what are you really buying with them, nothing really.

I don't buy ships for parts or rarely.

I have an explorer I'm going to use when I find a place where the super charged slots aren't everywhere. All thou damage doesn't matter I hate wasting them of things that don't matter.

I don't bother to salvage anything but S class ships. So unless you are going to keep it, just scrap it.
I've never found an S class Hauler. Found every ship in the game that could be an S but never a Hauler. I don't think I've ever seen an A class either.

Not that I'd buy it the cost would be crazy with all those slots.

I hardly ever find a crashed Hauler. Most for me anyway are Fighters and Explorers. I'd say 90% of my finds are mix of those two.

Did have an exotic a few times. Solars are hit a miss. I can find 5 in a row and then never see one again as a crashed ship.

This present save I've not seen a Hauler, Exotic, Solar or Scout. Nothing but fighters and Explorers.

I've found dozens of crashed ships. Had one planet where there were 3 very close together.

Thx for the info! I'm probably not gonna keep it because I want to make my own - working on gathering different hauler parts. thx for the advice on grabbing the modules!

Without knowing which galaxy you're in, or coordinates to your solar system, that's going to be really difficult to find.

If you're still in the starter galaxy, that's Euclid. When you enter 'screenshot' mode, the coordinates are the little icons in the lower left of your screen. This allows people to use portals to travel to your destination.
