Other than that, the grind is real, although a look at the coordinate exchange could yield glyph locations of crashed freighters that always have a bunch of salvaged frigate modules (SFMs) in them.
Also, if you chance upon a crashed freighter with several SFMs or bulkheads, plonk a base down near it because they will respawn in the open cargo pods several days later real time. Make a note of the time though, because if you visit before they have respawned the timer will reset. I generally leave at least 7 days to be safe, but I think might be a bit less than that.
Find a system that offers a lot of industrial missions and you will have all you need in a few weeks. If you don't get at least one after a few days move your freighter.
I have also seen cargo bulkheads at the merchant guild envoy.
The big blue square boxes on derelict freighters sometimes have a salvaged frigate module. (The derelict freighter you need a receiver to find.)
Sometimes a freighter has a salvaged frigate module in a cargo pod on the freighter. If you shoot the floating cargo pods around freighters you will lose standing.
It's harder to find upgrades of the other things. 3 S class lets you send 1 one frigate and 1 support on a mission for 50 to 100 fuel. A huge savings.
I have 40 salvaged frigate modules I don't need. But I still need the other cost saving upgrades this save. Modules rain out of the sky really. Daily quests and free from the vendor with rep. Doing the daily quests get you that rep too. It's a win, win.
I wish there was a way to get those other upgrades other than the RNG Gods. All the other upgrades rain out of the sky but these. I don't want to rain out of the sky like everything else. But maybe make it a little easier other than RNG Goding them.
it's very very fast if you dont care about the cargopods and just kill frieghters
Fly close to the freighter's container before attacking, so you'd know if it's worth attacking (the content is shown so you'll see if it has frigate modules inside)
Do it in outlaw star systems
- Im doing basically this method currently but i attack the freighters without checking their specific haul, for the reason to stock my cargo with the loots and later on selling them on normal system planetary trade posts for huge credit profits.
Also check the space stations mission's, often have easy task for modules and the freighter frigate missions bring few also.
I've been getting mine solely through Crashed Freighters, Space Station Missions and Nexus Missions. Gotten a total of 18 in a span say a week of play. Once I unllock the green star drive and am happy with my freighter i'll start sending out expeditions.
Edit; since i wrote this post 15mins ago. I found 2 at a Crashed Freighter & a Nexus missions (build outpost which I did not do) rewarding 1. I'm definitely camping out at the nexus. LOL.
I've only been to 8 inhabited systems, 3 of those were pirate systems leaving 2/5 with Explorer Guild Envoys and 1 of those gives SFM, the other Exosuit Expansion Units.
My experience is that the stock resets each time you portal in so if you find 2 like this you can just go back and forth between them and pick up as many as you need!
I also buy the heavily discounted modules and sell those on the way out for extra nanite profits.
