New save, old save, or old expedition save?

Just curious. What are you planning to do with the new expedition when it can be non experimental.

I am planning a new expedition save to see what is there. After I finish it I will more than likely start a new regular save and then jump into the expedition with it. I might then check out what happens with an old expedition save, I have a few of them floating around.

I have not played the experimental version.

The last couple years of title updates have been surprisingly stable in terms of versioning saves, and with the new reward transfer system I think I'll be sticking with my main save unless something goes wrong. Not being able to merge over inventory and currencies was my one big complaint about the expeditions, and with that being fixed I have no reason to start a new save apart from catastrophic save failure or a whim to start over.

I've been playing pd and survival: not enjoying pd anymore. The reason is, you might die any minute (due to glitch or otherwise) and all that effort goes waste: so why make that effort. . I'm 150hrs in. Survival: i just got decent freighter (15hrs in). Will build that up over time.

The new expedition will be my normal save. I wish I still had my voyager save: was decked to the gills and the freighter had the singularity drive (which you can't have otherwise).

I'm looking forward to the new expedition: haven't and won't look at any spoilers or tricks etc. The real fun is to figure stuff out yourself. And will also play at a leisurely pace: no rushing.

I ran the experimental expedition from my Pioneers save because I didn't want to risk my main. When the expedition ended the primary character gained ~100k units ~5k nanites, and 1200 quick silver. I also copied a ship and multi tool form the expedition.

Since my primary is fully equipped and well funded I'll probably keep using the Pioneers for expeditions unless there is something about the expedition that causes me to want to have it as a separate save.

I always run expeditions on a fresh save.

I played it both ways (existing save and new save) with the experimental version. I found that by using one of my existing saves, I was able to pass along things that made life a bit easier during the expedition.

Pro tip use the cargo exchange console to give your expedition character mould or tainted metal, basic survival and construction resources, and high value trade goods.

In the etch area send over exo suit movement modules, warp modules, and a weapon upgrade or two, and a personal refiner.

Refine mould or tainted metal into nanties, then use nanties to cpy your favorite ship or tool into the expedition.

I used my X11 save for X12 3xperimental run. I wont use my main save, my original one and too precious. Will run it again on a new save though to pick up the extra bits. That X11 save will be my ongoing one to run all the old expeditions on in the future, just cuz. Goals are good.

If you want to play the expedition pure, then you can just not give yourself stuff. The really nice thing is getting materials and currency transferred back to the primary instead of just being thrown away. You earned it so its not really free.

There should be a new console in the Space Anomaly. If I recall correctly it is on the wall between the Nexus and Quick Silver Merchant.

When it's available, there's a new console behind the Nexus in the Anomaly for launching the expedition.
