[SOLVED] Need help progressing anomaly quest
I'm at the stage of the Artemis quest where you're first introduced to the space anomaly. The anomaly quest tells me I need to talk to the inhabitants of the space station. I talked to Nada but upon exhausting all the available talking points, the quest marker still remains above their head:

Talking to them again ends with this dialogue:
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3216986679
Talking to Polo has him tell me I need to talk to Nada first:
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3216986656
And that's where I'm stuck. I was in co-op with my buddy when this happened. We've been co-oping together ever since we both started new games about a week ago.

What I've tried so far:
  • Leaving to menu and loading back into my friend's game
  • Exiting to desktop and loading into his game
  • Doing both of those things, but loading into my own single player game, once with multiplayer disabled in the menu
  • Traveling to a new system and summoning the anomaly
  • Talking to everyone else available on the anomaly
  • I'm also going to verify game files after I finish this post, but I don't have high hopes of it solving this type of issue

Anything else I can try? We're wanting to play this together, so me not being able to progress is affecting both of us.

I've spoken to everyone aboard. The issue is the quest isn't progressing. After talking to Nada, my friend was instructed to talk to Polo. Both from Nada, and from the quest marker/description. In my case, the marker stays above Nada, even though I completed talking to them.

Has your active mission been changed? NMS is tricky in that way. If you are just at..."The anomaly quest tells me I need to talk to the inhabitants of the space station" and the mission changed to do the Artemis mission or some other mission... check your log to toggle missions and let us know.

Another way to to change the quest line like I had to do way back. Stuck but waggled out. Different scenario, but it got my scripts straight.

I started a new save for the Orbital update and had that exact same issue at that step of the missions. I was able to get past it, but I don't remember what I did. I may have ended up using the save editor to advance the quest one step. I did have to do that twice when working through all the various story quest chains.

My discovery: You have to talk to Nada and Polo *first*. If you don't, and end up completing your dialog with other characters beforehand, you can't get their dialog to trigger completion of the quest. Wait a full real-life day so they reset and you can run the dialog again from scratch.

I did make sure, yeah. I put it on other missions, then back on the anomaly mission in hopes that it would do something, but it didn't. There's two missions in the main quest section. Alone amidst the stars and the space anomaly. Alone amidst the stars basically directs me to set the space anomaly as my active quest. And the space anomaly tells me to speak the inhabitants, which can be seen in the first screenshot. I also just tried it again to be sure. Same problem of the quest marker being over Nada, but having no other dialogue to go through.

Save editor may come in clutch here

The only thing I did before talking to Nada was interacting with the big expedition/quest thing, which told me I basically didn't have clearance to use it until I talked to people. Flew up to Nada directly after that. Maybe that was enough to break it.

Tell me of the three section you are suck with. I'm assuming 1 The Space Anomaly BOLD

The Space Anomaly
I received a set of mysterious coordinates from an unknown source. I followed the signal, and found the wreckage of an abandoned starship. There was little to be gained from the wreck, but the distress beacon contained the hailing frequency labelled 'ARTEMIS'. There is nothing for it but to continue exploring.

As the player departs the planet, they will need to answer an incoming transmission from a Korvax lifeform which goes by the name Priest Entity Nada. Once the conversation ends, the mission The Space Anomaly will begin and the Space Anomaly will appear in front of the player's starship. To progress, the player must investigate this mysterious object and complete the objectives of its mission until they gain the ability to summon it in space using the Quick Menu.

First Contact
After returning to my ship, a stranger identifying themselves as Artemis contacted me. Static and interference rendered communication difficult, but it is clear that Artemis needs my help. I must find some way to boost the signal before it is too late.

As the player departs the object, they will be contacted by Artemis, who only has enough time to deliver a troubling revelation before the transmission ends. At this point, the player must travel to a Holo-Terminus (found using the Starship's scanner in space) and charge its Power Condenser with Sodium (2%/unit) or Sodium Nitrate (5%/unit), then use it to get back into contact with Artemis.

Triangulation
I made contact with Artemis, discovering that they are stranded on a sunless world. They asked me to triangulate my position so that we might figure out a path towards meeting.

During the resulting conversation, the player will need to upload their data in order to progress the mission --- once the data is transmitted, Artemis will ask you to triangulate your position by placing Signal Boosters and logging their positions using the Triangulate Position function available during this portion of the mission. Signal Boosters are temporarily unable to perform nearest-location scans or accept Drop Pod Coordinate Data until the triangulation has been completed.

The location for the first Signal Booster use is not specified --- any location near the Holo-Terminus will work. The second and third Signal Booster uses, however, must both occur immediately adjacent to the Observatory marked by the mission waypoint. The same Signal Booster can be utilised for all three parts of the triangulation.

Once the triangulation has been completed, the player must return to space and receive a transmission from Artemis there, then locate and activate another Holo-Terminus so that they can transmit the triangulation data. In exchange, Artemis will transmit data about the stars in the skies at their location and ask the player to find their location with the help of aliens.

At this point, The Space Anomaly will update, allowing the player to discuss Artemis' situation with the Space Anomaly's denizens.
This sounds like it is a multiplayer issue where only 1 person should be interacting with the quest. I don't see anything that you did that would break the quest. There are going to be a few funny moments like this.

I can test this right now though, I have a backup save right at that point in the quest and I haven't talked to a single npc's in the Anomaly yet. I will report back later.

You have not progressed thru the Quest which grants you access.
Your pic in the OP shows the mission ALONE AMIDST THE STARS.
You've not visited everything in the Anomaly yet. Did you visit all the requisite kiosk?

Yeah that's the part I'm at. I flew out to space and the anomaly appeared. I went inside and talked to Nada, but the quest marker still remains above their head, even after I went through all the dialogue. If the quest was working correctly, the marker would go above Polo's head, instructing me to talk to him, but it didn't do that. And talking to him just has him telling me I need to talk to Nada first.

All that being said, I AM able to summon the anomaly with the quick menu. I mentioned in the OP that I tried summoning it in a new system to try getting the quest to progress, but even though I was able to summon it, the quest marker still remains above Nada.

It says alone amidst the stars, but my active quest is the space anomaly. I verified it in-game after your first response. I talked to everyone available aboard the anomaly. The issue is that the quest hasn't registered that I talked to Nada, even though I have.

Is that how it's supposed to work? Where only one of us needs to interact with the quest to progress it? Because we've both been having to do it from the beginning. Like the part of the quest before the anomaly, when it led us to a downed ship. We both had to interact with the sphere thing by the ship, and we both got to interact, repair and claim the downed ship. Two ships were in the same spot, inside each other.
