HELP! What happens when a frigate fleet calls for aid?
So I know frigate fleets can sometimes need help and then you have to jump in to aid them, but I'm interested in specifics of how it works, which I didn't see in the patch notes anywhere.

I just had a frigate fleet call me, and I could have sworn they said they needed "rescue" but I'm not seeing any options to point me to the right system. I know systems with fleets are marked on the galaxy map, but I have several fleets out so I have no idea which one would be needing help.

I assumed it would add something to the Log to direct me, but it did not do so. Did I just read the message wrong from the frigate fleet, or is there something I'm not seeing?

On my new save I got a call on second time sending out combat team. They needed advise. I was flying and could easily have missed the call. Later I read the breakdown and it was mentioned. Interesting changes, makes the fleet more interesting, for me anyway. Kind of waiting to see what happens next, like somehow they matter a bit more. Good on HG.
FWIW: i've had three of these assistance requests... two were to scan things and the 3rd was for testing a wormhole thing... for the first two, i only needed to scan things on a planet... it didn't matter which planet...

for the third one, though... it was a little different... i had to accept the task and then fly into space... once there, a wormhole opened and in i went! popped out in the system where that frigate was... test was successful! i warped back to the system i had been in and went on about what i was doing before i got the assist request...

pretty damned neat! i like it :steamhappy::steamhappy::steammocking:

On the big map there is an Icon. They could be on the other side of the galaxy so to speak. If you've taken a black hole somewhere. Your freighter is on the side it's too far away to so on the map area your starship is in. If you beam to your freighter then you should be in the same area as the problem.

I've never had a problem seeing where but that doesn't mean you came across a bug and it's not there.

Do combat expeditions also have those requests or not?

I'm wondering about it, since from 4 or 5 combat expeditions after patch, no one calls help.

You don't get one all the time. For me it seems to be 1 out of 6ish. Usually, they need help. You go help kill the pirates and the mission gets back on rack.

I had a call saying in a nutshell should we dig deeper.

Combat mission asking should they go looking for a strange ship so to speak.

I say there are combat, exploration, trade and balance. Each has its own one or 2 help requests.
Mine was that a baddie was hiding in with merch group so should they kill them all? Interesting question in this real life world.

All (freighter) expeditions can need help... most of it is based on how weak or low of a rating your fleet has against the specific mission. Send out a bunch of Scientific ships on a combat mission and they will most certainly be calling for help.. if they don't die.

That being said, once your fleet has upgraded to "A" or "S" class and you semi know what you're doing in assembling your fleet for each mission type... they will never call you

Doesn't matter if you send 5 fighters on a trade mission if you are 2 stars above. The only thing let's say having a high rating in trade is it's easier to get to the 2 star over on a trade mission.

For me 1 ship and one support and I have a 5 star. The fuel cost is 50. I have upgrades in all the slots on my freighter making mission easier to get the max rating and the 2+ star over.

I don't hire gas sucking frigates they are a waste of time. The other stats I don't even look at until I see how much fuel is uses. If it's a gas hog I don't get it no matter the other stats.

Mine fleet are the cheapest I can find at using fuel. Making 1 200 fuel lasts me more times than not 4 missions.
Though that is exactly true in the past, this patch may change things, well it already has. So maybe watch your fleets and see if indeed you never get a call. Will be interesting to see. I always thought it was too bad that if two stars over nothing ever happened. If that has changed it will help the boring factor, for me anyway.
Yeah, apologies... seems I can't read past the first paragraph....
