Starship parts salvage

Probably a stupid question, but what does a starship need to be eligible to scrap for parts? I bought a new ship for the purpose of scrapping it for parts but the game tells me that I cant do so with this ship?

AFAIK, any Starship can be scrapped unless it is your only ship or it is a Living Ship... Living Ships you have to trade away and then scrap the traded ship...

Well, the one I bought is neither my only one nor is it a living ship. I can scrap it normally for money, but not for parts to build a new shop with.....

Currently, only the fighters, explorers & haulers are activated for scrapping for parts & building new ones. Shuttles are ready to go, but turned off for some reason. Solars have all the parts in the files too, but they haven't got names yet. No idea if Interceptors, Exotics & Living Ships are even planned.

No solars or exotics or sentinels are scrappable.

my baaaad!!! i said "any" and i shouldn't have... yes, as others have pointed out, we're currently limited to only three ship types we can scrap and get a part off of... my apologies!
