How do I sell my other ships?
Maybe this question is common, but with the Orbital update it's the perfect timing to ask around. I have 4 ships and one of them is the one I use most, which is also the most upgraded. I want to sell my other ships for some extra units. Step by step, how do I do it?

You want the first one. There will be a holographic effigy of your current ship above it.

Dismantle them for funds.

Get the ship you want to "sell", go to the Ship Upgrade Terminal, select the salvage option (third option down, below Upgrade Ship), select Scrap Starship, and you'll recieve components that you can sell for Units.

yeah, as others have mentioned, you can't really sell your ships outright for units, you can scrap them now and have to choose between a ship part for ship crafting, the feature they just added, or in your case since you want units, scrap it for items and upgrades worth the valuation the ship scrapper gives you, which WILL be less than the value seen if you inspect your ship through your visor. The items can be sold for units and the upgrades can either be sold back to vendors for nanites, used in your other ships, or installed and then broken down for materials, some of which you may need for other things, so that's always worth keeping in mind. For instance, some ship modules break down and give you cadmium. Maybe it's early on and you still need to build the Emeril Drive hyperdrive upgrade that lets you travel to green star systems which requires cadmium. I know you didn't ask about that specifically, just throwing it out there for you or anyone else that might find it helpful.

I do wish they would let us sell/scrap any ship we own at the terminal. While it is immersive to get each one individually, I wouldn't mind a QOL feature that lets us scrap our ships without the fuss.

QOL feature? like being able to call your ship in while in the Space Station? check your quick menu ;)

Note: if the station is uninhabited you will not find any of these things there. Conversely, if the place looks like a scrapyard there will only be the one terminal on the right-hand side.

Once you have broken down a ship for scrap, one of your other ships will take its place.

If the replacement is in fact the ship you intend to keep, open your Quick Menu and summon one of the remaining rejects. Otherwise, return to the terminal and continue as before.

For safety reasons it is recommended that you take your time and leave using the teleportation terminal when you are done dismantling things.

How do I even get another ship?
I know you sometimes find them on planets but can I specifically search for them?
There are those charts but they lead me to crashed freighters and outposts as well.
I won't buy them from traders in space stations until I have some parts.

The easiest way is to get charts from the cartographer in a space station. Navigation data is the currency you use for the charts. There are charts for various things, but one of them is distress signals. There are two outcomes, one is a busted ship you can take, and the other is a pilot in need of help.

i know of two basic ways to get another ship...
- buy them from random NPCs flying them
- find and fix wrecked ones

Don't even need to get in your bad ship. Just go to space station in any ship & then switch your parked ship to the bad one tha you want to dismantle or sell. At that point either sell to NPC, or go dismantle at the back of the station.
