Guess you could try and find someone who would give you the parts for an Iron Vulture to replace the one you salvaged.
I haven't checked if it's been updated yet, but if/when it has, you can use that to get your Iron Vulture back. Get a ship you don't care about, then in the save editor swap that ship out for the Iron Vulture.
On my main save I do not have enough room for all the star ships I would like to use, so every so often swap out collected ships by trading ships between saves.
You can do this with a second account or a willing friend playing on their account. It should only take a few minutes to organise trading any ship to one another or ship parts. Group up with a friend (or willing stranger in a space station or Trading Post and trade ships to one another using an NPC pilot as the middle man.
Quicksilver rewards and Twitch rewards can be claimed indefinitely on any new game save. A friend who has completed the expedition can start any new game save and claim the Vulture from the Quicksilver vendor as soon as they have access to the Anomaly or any of the previous expedition reward ships. Then at a space station use an NPC to sell the ship to. The player who wants the ship should remain close to the NPC so they do not fly off with the ship and then buy the ship back from the NPC. The starship will be in its default state.
Hope this still works and you get the ship back you want. : D
++That is a Great Idea.
I've got plenty of parts.
Just let me know, we'll meet in the Anomaly and I just transfer two wing, the tail, and fuselage. You build and custom paint it at the space station.

(2 wings are needed for building Explorer type ships)
