How does the new Adrift expedition work?
Apparently there's no option to start it from the menu like all the previous ones. So how do I start this? Should I go with a new save?
I don't want to start it on my main save in case it ♥♥♥♥♥ up my game and removes all space stations etc. as the description of the expedition states. Also how does the game distinguish between what is my main save and what's not. The previous expedition saves got converted to normal saves so they must count to it too.
And lastly how long does the expedition last? I don't see a time window anywhere.

Start new save and pick expedition from the choices available.

You can also start it from the anomaly in an existing save if you want to take some things in with you. You can only pick the items up once you progress a bit though.

The event runs for about 2 months.

This event will last 7 weeks. Sometimes they do change the length by a week or 2.

Here is what the save will look like:

A word of caution, the merge terminal in the anomaly for the expeditions allows 1 time entry transfer of items starting the expedition, a 1 time transfer of items on exit from the expedition. PICK WISELY: there is no re-dos once you finalize trigger the file merge & exiting the expedition file merge.

I picked one of the lesser played saves which was one of the previous expeditions that got converted then. The menu screen didn't give me the option to make a dedicated save for the expedition like they usually do.

You can only have a maximum of 15 saves. If you've already got that many, it won't give you an option to start the expedition as a new save.

the slot to start a new save is at the very bottom of the list... if you have 6 saves active, then the 7th slot down would be the one with "New Save" or whatever in it...

FWIW: i had to delete one of my lessor played saves to get my dedicated save for Expedition 13: Adrift :( :( :(

This is going to be a stupidly lazy comment, but, erm... could you suggest a packing list with stuff to bring over via the expedition terminal?

i can't think of anything that is really needed... the milestones give you everything you need and certain things have been toned down a bit to make them easier... i'm about finished and i'm still in my starting hauler with my starting multi-tool and wearing my starting appearance...
I can suggest some items that I wish I had more of, starting out.

Oxygen, Carbon, Chromatic Metal, Activated Copper, Sodium Nitrate, and any jetpack/mining S class upgrades.

oh and exosuit shield s class upgrades

What do you mean by "Start a new save"?
I've never done any expeditions so I'm not sure how to even begin.

Up there have a screen, all u ned is to start NEW Game in the Saves area, and then you'll get an option to start expedition as a next step!

I don't think you have enough slots for 9 upgrades. But do you really need them? No. I could see resistance ones thou.

With the refiner they give you can make C carbon and Sodium. More than you'll ever use.

Activated copper, I guess. But just go mine it. It's not that hard. C metal. Refine the copper. Not that hard.

Oxygen? Sure. Easier than running around to a plant every 300u. But still not that hard.

Not sure why they give you content and you want to get done with it faster. You have 7+ weeks. If you can't finish it in that time frame, then good for them. They made great content that lasts for a while.

I was just listing what I would bring, just to speed things up a bit. That is very useful info for any new players that are trying this out :)
