Ugh, how do I find a mountain 1600U high?
I'm doing the expedition and have been flying over a few planets with high mountains, but its impossible to know how high the highest mountain is untill I actually exit the ship and climb the darn thing. And considering the jetpack is the wonkiest ♥♥♥♥ in history, that is a gamekiller in itself. o_O
Is there some way to find the highest mountain?
Do some planets have higher mountains than others?

The highest I've gone is about 1550u up, and thats after using the "un-dig" function and making the mountains taller, but it seem to be locked at about 1500. And with my jetpack I can only fly about 50u up before fuel is out. o_O

You just need to keep looking, I got lucky and found one that had a land donut on top that put it above 1600u

Heh, I'm trying to find one as well. Closest yet was 1200. A tall pointy mountian. Nearly fell to my death flying up that thing, haha.

There's a mountain right next to the Rendezvous Point in the same phase as that objective IIRC.

Hello there! In case you haven't figured this out yet, I'm here to help!

To make this milestone easy, simply go to the highest mountain on any planet and make a base there, once you've done so you can start building up using walls. Personally I used the thin walls since they take less material.
Once you've done this, you should get the milestone completed in no time!

Hope this helped!
Spoiler maybe follows:

A pet creature can be used to get around quickly and sometimes more safely on foot. If the incline is not too steep. Ideally use a crafted exocar if you have one. which is suited for climbing heights quickly especially with the high grip set up. Jump out from the exocar while climbing if it begins to fall back and continue with the jet pack. Also like already suggested, if close to the top, base building can help a player reach a little higher.

EDIT May 31st - Exocraft can be built by collecting salvage data and spending them on exocar blueprints at the Anomaly. The Romer vehicle will need Paraffinium (on Paradise planets), Metal Plating and Ion Batteries to build. Some of these may be purchased or soon into the expedition crafted. Installing the Grip Boost tech in the vehicle will give the exocraft more 'grip' while climbing.

Some high spots in low gravity settings can be useful, as you can jet pack endlessly much higher to go above 1600u. Hot planets or hot storms permit a player to stay airborne much longer than other planets so ideally choose a hot planet to find mountains too. Alternatively with a good supply of life support cells, jump from a player owned freighter or frigate down to 1600u. The Anomaly teleport sometimes lists player bases built high up that can be visited. Building your own staircase on top of a hill can reach the limit needed too. The final expedition rendezvous 5 location has a very mountainous environment to visit.[/spoiler]

Personally ,I foud a high mountain on starter planet (around 1550, the rest I just did fly on jetpack - it worked).

No need to cheese it. There are really tall mountains on the planet for rendezvous 3.

can you even build exocraft for this expedition beyond the nautilon?

Build a base....stairs up.

The Rendezvous 1 planet had a mountain that high not very far from the Rendezvous 1 site (like maybe a few thousand u's, iirc).

Could see it from a distance. I just landed on it and set the current quest to be that goal - and it immediately triggered when I exited my ship.

Easy-peasy.

There's also a dissonant ice planet that has bones on it that has really tall peaks on one of the RP systems, I think it's #2?

I found a spot that was about 1480 and built a base computer and a long stairway. I was about 15m short when I ran out of materials so i just jetpacked until it rewarded me :)

During Phase 2, after the amidst the stars milestone, I ended up on New Mochu in the Lizawaji VI system (Not sure if this is the same for everyone). In that system is a planet called Nejote L23, and I made a base on there called 1600 Base. All you need to do is land and jump out.

Otherwise just fly around from mountain to mountain and try to spot anything higher each time
