Base building in Omega
This is kind of stupid but...
I'm building my first base in Omega Expeditions.
The base computer did not give me the circular room first. It gave the square room. So I started building with that. After adding on a bunch of stuff I realize I'm not getting the Homecoming Reward. So
I check the base computer and now it has the BPs Foundation and the Round room.
So my question is, "Do I need to start the base wit the Round Room to activate the Homecoming reward?"

you get full rewards back so feel free to do what you do.

you can build them later you do not have to start with it

Don't I need to build the Base to get to the anomaly?

Just follow the directions it gives you. As I recall, it started me with square on my first base. Make sure the quest is highlighted too while doing it.

STOP - that mission can get bugged (and has gotten bugged for me on several runs). If you go to your base and it's name is NOT some long ass three word name (something maybe with habitat???) it WILL not work. (I'll try to get a screenshot).

Go complete other milestones, esp the Grand Tour (visit three planets in the starting system). Another milestone is the dig up three treasures one.

Go to the Space station and teleport back to your base and hopefully that base milestone will trigger and it WILL prompt you thru everything!

Sorry for the delay, here's what your base will be named when the mission is working properly:

I wasn't wrong with the "long ass name"

Okay guys, thanks for the help.
Apparently it doesn't matter which room you start building with first.
What matters is that the quest is highlighted while you're building, otherwise you have no idea which parts the game wants you to add to the base.
Once that's done you get the Homecoming reward.

This game is a bit finicky on getting credit for individual mission steps. If you do things too quick or slightly out of order you will find yourself having to repeat the steps over again. Best approach is to wait till you see the green check box pop up before doing the next step. I think there is some kind of timer that checks for the completion of each step and it won't give credit if you complete it before its tracked. To make things worse, the current quest will change to another random one for no particular reason and you have to make the expedition goal the current one quite a bit. I'm used to it now, but if you aren't it can be very frustrating.

for some reason, i do not see a base name in that image... i do see an action dialog to collect a bunch of base parts being presented, though...

Apologies for the delay - I had to start a new save to grab some new screenshots

oh! that is interesting, Leto... i don't recall that from mine... i do recall dropping the Base Computer and that started the base building quest with the dialog i mentioned... i never looked specifically at the name of the base until i was finished and had collected all the things... then i renamed the base to the same name it already was but also added "(Base 1)" to the name as i kind of planned to build more bases... HA! i never did... i saved a cheap C-Class Freighter from an attack, swapped it for an S-Class Pirate Freighter a few warps later, and have been building my base on it...

i still have the one ground base in the starting system, though... it has two round prefabs, a square prefab, and the biodome with a foundation under each one... landing pad, teleport, power, etc... i'm kind of grumpy that the game didn't give us any floor tiles, though... and i'm loath to disassemble everything so put some down so i can do a ""proper"" base build with decent flooring around the landing pad... i might do that, today, but geez it ain't gonna be fun... but then again, i might go find a Power Hotspot and just build a new base on that frozen planet... idk...

i didn't have to drop a computer... found a wild base computer close to where i spawned, deployment of base supplies worked fine
