Expeditions are great for base ideas. I suggest you play the expedition (repeat if necessary) and visit bases. You will get many ideas.

Go to the anomaly and go to the huge portal there and select FEATURED BASES, and Teleport to one.

I don't build stuff in this game, but in another game I spend a lot of time on, I build entire worlds from scratch. I get inspiration from looking at real-world buildings and trying to recreate them but with my own spin. NMS doesn't give you a whole lot of building freedom, since its system is pretty modular, but maybe try to do something similar. Find a picture of something you like on the internet, real-world or fictional, and try to recreate it in the game. Maybe look at some matte paintings from Star Trek for some building ideas. Those would fit the game's art style well.

Best, most challenging base I have seen was a 'Low-Orbit Base', floating about 1000 units over a power hot spot. (There, that's a hint.)

You can figure it all out, for a challenge, or there is a video out there somewhere.
Here's one of my bases. I had fun using triangles and six-sided shapes in one area. Have a look around, and help yourself to any of the resources you find there.

First it's gonna be a pain to bring the base computer up there....

Second watch out for spawning frigates....

Third plan carefully.... falling from there takes a long time to reach the ground....

Think of what architecture style you like. Do you prefer modernist, traditional (and if so where from, Japan, Europe etc) how about an ancient culture like Mayan or maybe full sci-fi.

Have a look around the style you like on the .net. While there are - a lot - of restrictions regarding easy placement of parts and missing parts (notably right angled triangles) you should be able to find something to work as a template. That said a lot of those restricts reduce or disappear completely if you are comfortable with glitching.

Good luck!

Enough inspiration to be taken irl.
Tried the Eiffel tower or the Semperoper for example?

Or build iconic places from your childhood cartoons?

Doesn't have to be a building. Could be a painting for instance.

I found this one on the expedition trail. Some kind of glitch building but it was awesome to see. (and climb on)

Hey, I see there is an Exocraft on the pad up there. I think you are good. AFAIK, you can jump those in from literally ANY altitude, and still be functional on the ground. Like an SST Drop Pod. Heck, a Nomad might even get a good bounce toward its destination.

Yeah that was th epurpose of that minautor.... to land quickly on the surface since it's too far for an SRT... the middle pillar below the base contain magnetic generators to power the base.... the light they emmit makes it looks like there's some kind of engine to keep the base floating up in the air...

The hardest part was to climb up there with the base computer in hands..... I had to build quite a lot of plateforms..... at first I was stuck building because I was at the limit for the base computer range.... the hotspots have no vertical limit, but the base computer buildable area does.... and at the beginning my base coputer was deep below the water (it was a safety for if I fall while building.... it hapen from time to time to glitch trough a solid surface too, especially when uploading the base).

BTW this isnt the finished base..... it was still work in progress when I took that screenshot. I wasnt sure I'd finish because I often get frigates to spawn and wander very close to the base.... but till now I had no collision (tho I'm often close enough to jetpack on the passing frigates).
