How is it that this lil ♥♥♥♥ does so miniscule damage on sentinels? Description says "huge damage" BS..barely scratches

The Neutron Cannon must be charged up for maximum damage Sounds like you're shooting it like it was a boltcaster. Once you have three good "S" class upgrades for the NC the charge-up time is almost zero.

yea I charged it but still HP bar on sentinels didn't budge enough even if no healer ones near..it was way too slow kill while whole pack shot me..me trying burrow and play guerrilla.

Never done derelict freighter mission, guide says scatter beam in there, but I guess neutron cannon would be ok too..since ?its close quarter fighting?

Imma gonna try next that a lot advertised assault rifle mode..can not remember proper name but you know. It has even 3 upgrades possible to install.

Find whatever weapon you like best and use it - they're all OP once you get them upgraded and supercharged anyway.

(But the Neutron Cannon is 100% the most OP of all 🙀)

The Neutron Cannon is really an AoE weapon, best used for crowd control. Use it on swarms of Biological Horrors for instance. For Sentinels use the Pulse Spitter or Scatter Blaster. : )

Neutron is my go to for killing sentinels. I use it to fight through all the waves right up to the big bipedal walker, and then on to the sentinel pillar/nest. I shut down sentinels across the whole planet.

It's basically an energy shotgun, with a charge up mechanism. It has no magazine, so you basically don't have to constantly reload like a scatter gun. It also doesn't use fuel very fast, and the fuel will last usually through multiple fights.

With enough upgrades, it will do far far more damage on both the uncharged and charged shots. If you have just the basic gun, and no upgrades, then the uncharged shots are probably doing very very little damage.

Due to the fast pace of the mechs I find Boltcaster & PULASUMA CANNON RAPID FIEEAAAAAHHH works best.

The Scatter Blaster is a good alternative. Short range but shot gun like. Also make sure to have the Mech AI handy. Once it is upgraded it can do a lot of damage while you focus on the healers.

I'm on my 4 run. Have a Sent A rifle, 2 superslots spread far. I've got the Optical Mining Upgrade in on SS, and a scanner mod in the other. Several Bolt caster X mods and on S mod, The default other Bolt caster go with, this rifle barley has 2000 dps.

All the Suspicious Mods unpack from the SS gave me 8 Neutron Cannon X mods that I can't use cause I haven't found the base mod, frustrated to the point I just used the mining laser and paralyzes mortar. I broke down and installed one X class Pulse splitter and the base mod and was 3 times faster killing Corrupt Sents than the bolt caster. Don't kill the messanger but the scatter blaster is pow Pow! click. and a slow aszzz reload.

I prefer the Neutron Cannon by far and was happy to see Geldric™ Mega Save had this in all his 4 multi tools as there is no better all purpose weapon. It's THE BEAST.

I've settled on 400 on the slider to enable full charge.

I've found the charged blast from the neutron cannon pretty much worthless, but it fires as fast as you click, so the DPS can be better with uncharged blasts.
