Do the economy filter colors in the map actually mean anything?
Whenever i turn the economy filter on in the galaxy map, none of the colors seem to have any meaning in terms of like green being high wealth and red being low wealth, it just seems to be all over the place in terms of wealth levels and corresponding colors. What gives?

Filter is for economy type. You only get to see the rating with a specific piece of tech installed.

You have to click on the system to open the info box that states the economy type, because I think your right. I have seen no consistency in colors and economies

There may be some rhyme or reason to the color change, but basically it just visually confirms that you have changed filters. You still have to check each system if you are looking for a specific economy type.

The colours mean the type of system (Scientific, Mining, Manufacturing, etc) and has nothing to do with the wealth of the system which you can read in the Galaxy map if you build an economy scanner.

If you want an easy (perhaps too easy) guide to trading then go to the Guide's section here on Steam for this game and look for a Trading guide by ColorsFade (edit: correct user name)
