Storage Augmentations help, please.
I'm trying to get storage Augmentations to increase the slots in my exotic ships.
I have 2 different exotic ship types one that started with a 16+4 looking kinda like a bug.
The other starting with 20+6 looking kinda like a dart or mosquito.
I want to max both out. I looked up help for it but most information I find is outdated or people not knowing what they are talking about saying you can't increase your starships inventory only your exosuit inventory can be increased.
The little information I can find is saying you get them from scrapping crashed ships once you fixed them enough to fly into the space station and use the ship deconstructer or any other starship.
So I bought about 9 ships from npcs and found and min fixed 7 crashed ships and fully repaired 5 crashed ships totalling 21 ships but only got about 5 storage Augmentations so I spent all the rest of my money buying what slots I could and used all but 1 Augmentation to upgrade my 16+4 to a 24+11 now I only have 1 Augment and almost no money left except about 25+-m unit worth of trade goods in my exosuit.

Long story short
How do I get more Augmentations?
Do some ships give them when deconstructed like hauler give them but fighters don't or only a class but none from c class or can you save scrap reload and scrap again if you didn't get an Augment the first time or will it be exact same scrap every time or do you always get an Augment every 5 ships guaranteed or something like that.

Need help increasing/getting ship Augmentations.

Any useful information is greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Also do you need to fully repair a crashed ship to get or increase chance of getting an Augment or will min fixed ships be just as good as fully repaired ship?
I know you get reduced value as far as units worth of scraps from damaged ships but does it effect the chance of getting an Augment?

I tried to find out if there are any conditions that increase the likeliness of getting a storage augmentation - to no avail. I don't say there aren't any, but I was unable to find them out. To me this seems totally random.
I switched to making money with crafted items and buying the inventory slots.

I was getting 2 to 3 storage augments a day from fleet missions up until about week ago. Since then, none. Cant be sure but I think the drop rate was nerfed. The only other way I know of is like you said...salvaging ships. And yes you can increase any ship to 48/21. Raising the class to S unlocks the rest of the storage slots so you can apply storage augments. It will cost a lot of nanites!

Storage augmentations are most easily farmed by buying ships then scrapping them. Accumulate a large amount of money (I'd call it 100 million units at least), then find a wealthy system ("affluent" or "high supply"). Dock at the station and wait for ships to roll in. Only buy A-class or better ships. A class give storage augments almost if not exactly 100% of the time. S class give two if the information I have heard is correct. Before you buy the next ship, sell the scrap to the guy to recoup about 60% of the ship price (don't sell to the trade terminals to avoid driving demand down).

I found a wealthy system where A-class shuttles arrive as fast as I can scrap them, and all of them are around 1-5 million units each. With 60% of total investment regained by selling the scrap, I managed to almost max out my hauler in about 20 minutes spending just 40 million units.

You can sell the upgrades you get too (you have to sell them to the upgrade merchants if you were wondering), which gives you a stupid amount of nanites. An A-class ship gives you 900 nanites worth of A-class upgrades.

Augments drop from scrapping based on ship class. C-class rarely drop, B-class infrequently drop, A-class seem to almost always drop. I don't know if the ship's state of repair has an affect, but you are buying fully functional ships anyway, so it doesn't matter.

So buying ships seems better than repairing crashed ships at the very least it's certainly faster and I'll try buying only a class ships S class never spawn for me at space station.
Only found 1 S class shuttle and 3 exotic ships 2 I'm keeping and 1 I'm giving to a friend if I can.
Going to experiment with swapping my exotic with a crashed ship while my friend and I are both there and see if he can then claim the abandoned exotic unless someone else has tried this and knows if it works or not?

Thanks for the feedback.
I have checked the thread linked it was helpful but some things were unclear but the mention in this thread by derpy cat 5 might have cleared some of that up.
I'm about to put it to the test now.

Thank each and everyone of you

I"d like to know the answer to this and if you can abandon a living ship, and it stay there to be claimed by a group member. I have 2 living ships but my husband would likely fall asleep too many times seeking those coordinates to make his happen. I'd like to donate mine to him. Is that one even swappable? I'm considering trying this later when he can enter the game.

You can sometimes get some as Nexus mission rewards. And sometimes, if you're really lucky, get some at crashed freighters. Those are the only 2 places I've ever gotten any. And rarely.

I wake up to 400million units everyday from my indium farm. Spent it all on my ship storage. Profit. I only started playing a week ago.

I wasn't able to swap. It became useless to us both (the living ship) so saving before trying is a thing I'm glad I did!

From what I got, scrapping a medium sized A-Class or B-Class will always get you 1 augmentation upgrade (or I was very lucky). I will only use it for ships that I keep because if used on other ships it will not increase the ship's value for a trade-in, maybe a program glitch.

I was farming augmentations for my current ship, starting when the storage slots would have cost about $85 million units (and up to $300 million units). I found the most success in scrapping larger ships of each class, and even more success when I actually bought storage slots on the smaller ships (around $15 million worth)... even then, sometimes I'd get 0, sometimes up to 3 for each scrapping.

(it's cheaper to boost storage in a small ship hoping for a storage augmentation than it is to buy storage slots in a big ship: 15 million-50 million vs 300 million per slot)

The best storage farming I've seen is exotics. A double exotic spawn on one space station gave me 4 storage and 6 S class upgrades each reload.

I found it on reddit (user Moongrease) and have posted the portal on a couple threads here

It makes grinding a little quicker, of course there is glitching and the save editor depending on you personal choice in how to play.

Yeah finally got my cousin and my schedules to allow us to try this and yeah it seems to have been patched.
It has been a while (before the NEXT update) that this might have been possible because I remember trading a ship with an npc on the space station and my old ship turned into an abandoned ship and I was able to just claim it for free but seems this doesn't work anymore
