it's good all around ship. really good maneuverability too.

The main feature is the floaty jets instead of landing pads. As noted, it is a pretty good ship but it is not anything special other than the looks.

I doubt it will have the sustained desirability the Golden Vector had for several months after it was released. I took this picture because it was almost like a TV ad. 5 out of 6 players prefer the golden vector.

The floaty jets are pretty cool. I took a photo...

compared to a fighter-type (golden vector is a medium fighter):
around 25% higher shields base value
much higher hyperspace range base value, similar to/slighty below an explorer type
damage potential base value similar to fighter, slightly lower then golden vector
maneuverability base value similar to fighter
slightly higher max storage compared to fighter 105/60 vs 100/60
-> imho best allround/combat starship

design is in the eyes of the beholder so

This machine is the most beautiful starship in the game.

My only beef with the Starborn Runner?

It still lands with a loud, ka-chunky thud.

My dudes at HG: it doesn't land. It shouldn't make a thud. Please fix this.

I love that orange color to it. You can call it red but that puppy is orange.
it should even come with a new type of landing gear module

I just can't stand how much it looks like the head of a Collie. Way WAY too long and 'sleek'...

great point. it should make some variation of the sound it makes while it is floating there. have the frequency change as the hoverfield engages, maybe some overlaid harmonics, make it sound like powerful high tech equipment powering up and engaging the field.

I like the pipes. A lot. Very old-school engine-like.

There's one ship I like in the standard NMS collection but I never seem to own one. It's also got nice pipes, all over it, like a hotrod. Very long nose. I think I never end up getting one because all the ones I see have a vertical tail fin, which I cannot abide, blocking my view forward. And all the ones that don't have the vertical fin, they're like pink, or class C, or some other thing I don't want.

But this new ship is super fine, I think.

The solar ships look cool in-atmosphere. But then the sails come out and they don't look cool any more. Especially in first person, where the sails block 66% of your view.

I hate runner for its thunderous frame. Little lightning discharges underneath are constantly produce noice :lunar2019deadpanpig:

I added a suggestion to the Requested Features board.

Also a suggestion to tone down the alarmingly loud "Bombing of Dresden" sound effects when fleets enter from hyperspace. For my 73 year old dad, who wondered who was attacking me.

No idea if anyone at HG ever reads that board. :steamhappy:

The whole audio scheme could use a seriously professional remaster, IMO.

Fleets entering via hyperspace. Solar panels opening 50u away, sounding like they're inside my left ear. That sort of thing.

Those noises are part of the emersion that everyone claims does not exist.

Why are people always trying to remove the emersion?
