Unplayable on rtx 4090 and 13900k
nothing to do the game is completely broken I have no idea how people play it in this state there are two options: I don't pay any attention to the graphics and fluidity or I don't understand anything and play the classics from consol.fatto the fact is that after a week every day until late at night to fix configure try all the possible settings imaginable dlss on/off, dlaa taa low/high textures high resolutions cpu priority from the task manager affinity performance mode resizable bar on/off from bios driver updates various windows optimizations nothing...... stuttering huge frame rate drops starting from 120 up to 70/60 interruptions as if it were loading infinitely in the state of things it is totally unplayable when you are traveling in space on the planets once you land it runs well but in flight it's a total disaster there are no excuses that hold I have an ultra hardware worth thousands of euros so the PC must be excluded here it's really about the badly optimized video game is to say nothing really made with the feet but I I wonder....but when they release something....I say....can't they see that it doesn't work??????is it possible that the end user or the beneficiary of the purchased product has to lose sleep? peace for a damn video game made with your feet???? the money is good you have collected it and this is the final result??? after 8 years for Christ's sake with gou like the nvidia 4090 you are not capable of running graphically speaking, this little game is very light???????? I have no words, disappointed to the nth degree

Since this is 13900k, have you tried the E-Core "theory"? To make the game run on P-Cores only?

Can you explain to me how to do it please I'll try

Sure. There are a couple of ways to do this. You can do this by hand but it's kind of PITA. The absolutely easiest and simplest way to do this is to download Process Lasso software from Bitsum Technologies. It's free, and it just display purchase nags from time to time, but it has all features enabled.

https://bitsum.com/

Process Lasso is kind of like advanced Windows Task Manager but with the ability to tweak the Windows CPU Scheduler and bunch of other things. If you ever used Windows Task Manager then Process Lasso should not be much different.

With NMS running, Alt-Tab it and open Process Lasso. Search for NMS.exe. Right-click on it, then CPU Affinity->Always->Select CPU Affinity. Then simply click the P-Cores button and Process Lasso will automatically set it for you. This setting sticks across NMS restarts and PC reboots.

Good luck!

I figure il be a gamer till the day i die, some of my friends grandparents have been getting into games as well to help keep their brains active, seeing a 90 year old playing world of warcraft was alittle surreal at first. I think we are starting to see more a cultural shift where gaming is just becoming a much bigger entertainment source even for people much older in life. For my friends grandmother that plays a priest on world of warcraft, its been an amazing tool for her to get more involved with her grandkids and great grandkids.

It’s true

Besides the rubbish and the propaganda, it's the lack of interactivity in TV and movies that makes them unappealing to me. I used to watch movies as kid, but then got my hands on computers in my early 20s and a whole world opened up for me. I still watch movies from time to time, but games and computers (and bikes!) is where the fun is for me.
Yes, it's not at all interesting a priori, all the stuff I've seen and reviewed, the usual contents that are increasingly ridiculous, besides, think that I bought a 65-inch Sony A95L just to play on the PC and it's made for watching TV 😂😂😂😂 the PC has the priorities, speaking of space, I can't wait for a decent Star Wars to come out with an open world and done as God commands
Oh, Star Wars.. I sort of gave up any hope for a decent StarWars game. It seems that indie devs and small, independent development houses is where fresh ideas live these days. Big game companies are like big media companies, it's all about recycling safe, marketable, profitable content and making money. Disney owns Star Wars so there is little hope for that. No "New Hope" :(

I thought I was the most adult at 37, I'm surprised to see fifty and sixty year olds playing or chatting on steam 😅
i'll be 61 in a couple weeks. We had people in the late 70s raiding with us in WoW Vanilla days in Molten Core and Black Wings Lair. I been gaming since Sears/Atari 2600. Loved my Commodore 64 and Reach for the Stars, Elite, D&D, Star Trek, Carriers at War but man it could take 15 min+ for the computer to make it's move with that game. lol

Just took a screenshot testing cpu usage. cpu settings in the TKGRAPHICSSETTINGS.MXML file is high 12 and low 13. And fyi i have VignetteAndScanlines set to false same file. And maxframrate set to 800. Not sure what max is as i can't get past 400. So maybe it's 400 /shrug

BTW i also tried setting cpu high and low to 0, 0. As soon as you start the game it changes to what it was 12, 13. So i tried setting the file to read only so it can't change it. And ofc the settings stayed at 0, 0. Not really seeing a difference but i did hit 404fps so guess 400 isn't the cap. I'm curious what cpu Kalisa is using for it to work and what default settings were.

I also tried to change things in that file but it went back to how it was before the change every time by itself 12/13
it needs to be set to read only after you make the changes or it will reset every time game launches. as for my cpu, its an I7-12700, also have 32gb of ram, so its a decent machine but the graphics card is only a 2060 but it does the trick on most games, still surprised i can run max detail on this game with good fps now.

I should mention my frames and performance was fine before i made the change when i was on planets, but my frames and performance got hit very hard anytime i went to space stations or freighters, in general it was not a very smooth experence well in space and around big POI on the ground.
after the change my fps and performance seen a massive improvement where i was struggling before, espically the stutterness which is now mostly gone, only stutters slightly on places that make sense. but on planet around my base, it just seen a marginal improvement.
Before change, i was at near min graphics settings, averaged around 50 fps in stations and was jittery,
After change, ultra settings, averaging around 95 frames and smooth in same station

Hey, that's Intel with E-Cores, right? So perhaps setting affinity with Process Lasso, what Tony did, would work for you too???

have not tried that but perhaps? currently dont have much of a reason to try it as my performance is pretty much perfect right now after that file change, but i could try it to see if my frames get a further boost tho.

Ah, OK, sorry... I understood that you still have stutters. Setting Affinity this way is unlikely to boost your FPS in any significant way if your game is already running well. But if you still experience any stutters, glitches or FPS dips you might wanna try this.
I did mention I still get slight stutters since doing that change but so far its only when leaving a planet or enterting atmo, but its only happened afew times since and only slightly noticeable now, compared to what it was before its like night a day, earlier it was almost nonstop sutters in space but glad thats at least been cleared up.
But will definitly try that other method if i run into performance issues down the line, not sure how my game will handle once i start really building up.

its only when leaving a planet or enterting atmo,
That is different, it's a separate thing, unrelated to these stutters and it happens to everybody. Something about some game assets no decompressing fast enough. Even on the fastest CPUs and NVME SSDs, it still happens.

There is a mod that fixes this but it's broken right now since the Omega update. If you know which pak file it is, you can probably fix this yourself, but I never got around to doing that. I sometimes run the entire game unpacked and that also fixes this glitch.

Space and sci-fi are my favs

I started computer (PC) gaming in the 80's.

The very first MMO I played was Earth and Beyond. Played it from start to sunset. I do enjoy space games. Started when I watched man first walk on the moon live on TV.

I think it's something on your end - 9900k with 3090, max settings, and even DLAA and i'm still having no problems at all. Had to install an LOD increasing mod to get my fps to dip below 100.
Same CPU but with a 2080Ti, Game run fine on high, or even custom with some set higher.
Star Citizen also 'requires' the E-cores to be disabled, for the game to run properly. Interesting to see that NMS can be fixed the same way.

Thankfully I use an AMD CPU...
It's just odd that 13600 and 14600 don't have the issues. Something on Window's or Intel's end with their thread directors. No idea what OS you guys are using but i switched to Win 11 only because it supports these new cpus.
