Atlas Sceptre
I just want to start by expressing my appreciation for the Omega Expedition. Was a lot of fun. I have not tried using an existing file yet {not sure I will}, but had fun all the same.

From what I can tell the Ship reward seems to be the same for all {per usual?}, but the Atlas Sceptre seems to vary per file as I did the dance to collect the rewards on different files. I can guess at the effect as we are all used to variation per Star Systems and so on ... but admit I was not expecting different Super Charged slot configurations for the weapon.

Obviously for the actual Expedition file I was just handed the Sceptre in the field {though could have waited to click the milestone elsewhere} ... so my initial jolt was it was an A class. I was like, "no biggy ... maybe for the first time ever I have a reason to spend nanites to upgrade a weapon {something I consider a waste otherwise and have never done it}".

Anyhow just wondered what others thought. I am totally grateful for this new skin ... and appreciate all the new players that can have a "staff" type weapon before doing Echo et. al.. Generally that they have more now than ever before.

I admit I was expecting an S class and no variation. I am happy, just not a fan that we all get random ones ... or the game looks at the System and/or where the Anomaly is called in etc. Obviously I will not be trying to seek out the perfect system for the best one per se ... just wondered how other felt.

I've never bothered with the stealth tech as it isn't very useful, but having it as a free slot combined with the mining laser is neat.

Yeah it is a nice weapon ... and I think it looks cool. Also a great tool for newer players for mining. During the Expedition the first thing I did was built a mining laser to compliment the Runic Lens for superior mining/heat etc.

Though this tech exists ... were I using the Expedition as a new player I would be over the moon for the Sceptre.

Small edit: Stealth {as in cloak} is very useful ... so cannot agree there lol.

the cloak is extremely useful... especially when on an aggressive Sentinel planet... if they see you, immediately cloak and move off in some random direction... up to you if you stay cloaked for the duration of the charge or not... me? i prefer to cloak and move away where they cannot see me... then i uncloak and let the charge build back up before cloaking again...

While I did not post this to talk about Stealth lol ... you are 100% correct. The cloaking device is very useful. Particularly in those situation where aggro seems locked. I found the cloak invaluable on a max settings "Outlaw" run for sure.

The scepter has what seems to be a unique weapon. I've only found one upgrade to it in an outlaw station. The damage output is insane. it's a chargeable shotgun with high precision. I one shot most of the non-walker sentinels with it including the dogs. It does a large AOE damage too upon impact.

The mining beam is already tier 2. it's named something else(Runic lens?) but it doesn't need recharge for me even on higher difficulty. (There's a lot of weird stuff on my savefile that I cannot explain. I am not sure if this is one of them)

Upgrading it to S didn't seem to change much.

the cloaking tech is insanely useful especially in bugged-out multiplayer when sentinels can't seem to deactivate ever and keep attacking you from another planet.

And it looks dope. I love how the character holds it, how it looks in third person and all that. I'm a first person kind of player and it made me want to play in third person. I believe it is well worth the effort.

Regarding slots, when claiming the staff, the configuration actually changes each time. It's possible to save scum this to an extent if you want perfection.

I find the atlas scepter extremely underwhelming....

First you need to save scum to get it perfect, but since it's A-rank when you get it, there's a good chance that even if the 3 first supercharged slots are well placed, the fourth one will apear in some useless location....
Then the random stats make it even worse.... you can have one with perfect SC slots but terrible bonuses.... there's no way to know before picking it.... and then you're screwed with whatever rng gave you....

About his bonuses if anyone wonders, it has the same as any other staves, so they're focused on damages and scanner range.... making the fact that it has a runic lens kinda wasted... any atlantide rifle does better

So just an exotic skin with any random staff stats...

On par with the starborn runner I'd say... a must-have for newbie players, but just a waste of slot collector for veteran ones....

Thanks.

I received a scepter with two supercharged cells open far from each other. So it's completely useless.

speaking of which
why do people focus so much on having everything stuck together in a little square? I didn't notice any change when I put every mining beam upgrade next to each other... apart from the edge of the icon changing color. no better function, no better dps, no better heat management, nothing changed at all when it came to use it.
Same for ship's weapons or pulse drive. There's no difference between putting them anywhere and putting them next to each other.

I like the stealth tech. Instead of running away from scans I just stealth now. You could just run yes and it is probably faster but I am lazy and prefer the 1 button solution better. Even more hectic fights Instead of dashing into cover now I can just lazily stealth into cover :D

Configuration does matter. I promise folks here on the forums are not making it up. When you get a chance play around with your tool and ship ... watch the numbers and see for yourself that certain placements do have an effect. While I agree this was one of the stupidest things ever, ... it is a thing.

Adjacency bonus + supercharged slots. The right set-up of the modules differs depnding on the tech, but it ends up stacking the bnuses for maximized effect.

Note that for certain techs, the numbers dont really show the real improvement you get for some reasons.
Probably because first it only encompass the DPS and second it only track the "damages dealt to ennemies" part, disqualifying mining lasers....
Techs to which it doesnt do justice include all launchers (plasma launcher and geology cannon) and the mining beam.

Very cool. First off I love the staff ... looks really cool. Second ... thanks for the screens and how, in your own words, you described the probability for the Sceptre. I would be lying if it was not discouraging lol, but was all the info I needed to run it in my head and not bother :-). If it had been up to me, then I would not have done the Atlas Sceptre reward like this ... we have plenty of "randonmess" already lol.
