Though this tech exists ... were I using the Expedition as a new player I would be over the moon for the Sceptre.
Small edit: Stealth {as in cloak} is very useful ... so cannot agree there lol.
While I did not post this to talk about Stealth lol ... you are 100% correct. The cloaking device is very useful. Particularly in those situation where aggro seems locked. I found the cloak invaluable on a max settings "Outlaw" run for sure.
The mining beam is already tier 2. it's named something else(Runic lens?) but it doesn't need recharge for me even on higher difficulty. (There's a lot of weird stuff on my savefile that I cannot explain. I am not sure if this is one of them)
Upgrading it to S didn't seem to change much.
the cloaking tech is insanely useful especially in bugged-out multiplayer when sentinels can't seem to deactivate ever and keep attacking you from another planet.
And it looks dope. I love how the character holds it, how it looks in third person and all that. I'm a first person kind of player and it made me want to play in third person. I believe it is well worth the effort.

Regarding slots, when claiming the staff, the configuration actually changes each time. It's possible to save scum this to an extent if you want perfection.
First you need to save scum to get it perfect, but since it's A-rank when you get it, there's a good chance that even if the 3 first supercharged slots are well placed, the fourth one will apear in some useless location....
Then the random stats make it even worse.... you can have one with perfect SC slots but terrible bonuses.... there's no way to know before picking it.... and then you're screwed with whatever rng gave you....
About his bonuses if anyone wonders, it has the same as any other staves, so they're focused on damages and scanner range.... making the fact that it has a runic lens kinda wasted... any atlantide rifle does better
So just an exotic skin with any random staff stats...
On par with the starborn runner I'd say... a must-have for newbie players, but just a waste of slot collector for veteran ones....
why do people focus so much on having everything stuck together in a little square? I didn't notice any change when I put every mining beam upgrade next to each other... apart from the edge of the icon changing color. no better function, no better dps, no better heat management, nothing changed at all when it came to use it.
Same for ship's weapons or pulse drive. There's no difference between putting them anywhere and putting them next to each other.
Adjacency bonus + supercharged slots. The right set-up of the modules differs depnding on the tech, but it ends up stacking the bnuses for maximized effect.

Note that for certain techs, the numbers dont really show the real improvement you get for some reasons.
Probably because first it only encompass the DPS and second it only track the "damages dealt to ennemies" part, disqualifying mining lasers....
Techs to which it doesnt do justice include all launchers (plasma launcher and geology cannon) and the mining beam.
