Did they nerf Frigate Mission rewards?
Wow, the Frigate Mission rewards suck, apparently.

For awhile there, around last year, the rewards were rather good, even for 1 and 2 star missions, but now... all I get are 50k units, the occasional geodesite, and some other low-value junk.

No Salvaged Frigate Modules, no items worth more than 150k, nothing. Meanwhile I can land on any planet, scan one critter and get 200-500k credits, lol.

Did like 3 derelicts too, no Modules. The 1 and only module I got was from a crashed freighter on a planet.

Why do they insist on making these stupid modules way too hard to get when they expect you to collect some 100+ of them to unlock everything?

Get yourself two more frigates, ASAP, and you'll see a big change in the expedition duration, the number of encounters they have and the value of the rewards. I should mention that I'm again assuming that you're playing a Normal mode game and haven't tweaked the settings or added any mods....

No mods, though I am running Custom, getting rid of stupid annoyances like techs breaking, hostile critters that chase you for miles and reducing the standing necessary to rank up because locking an Artemis Path quest behind busywork seems kinda stupid.

Giving a Gek a single Gek Relic is too much effort? Besides, changing that setting has 0 effect on that quest. You read it wrong.

You're making the same mistake I made: The industrial expeditions have the maximum chance of returning a Salvage Frigate Module. So,
  • Get 8 industrial frigates and 2 support frigates.
  • send out 2 expeditions, both industrial with 4+1 combo.
  • if NO industiral missions; don't do the others.

I get atleast 1/2 modules and sometimes 2/2 on my expeditions. I never bother with the other missions types. :steammocking:

Use the Minotaur/Nautilon scanner to find crashed freighters. Once you loot a few on one planet, move to another one.

Though I agree with you, they are very hard to find.

Kinda stupid, if that's the case, because a lot of times, like 1 out of all the missions offered are industrial.

Eh, what? That one time I did the quest, it insisted on me doing *three* missions from the quest-giver. I doubt 1 relic turnin would have given that much reputation/standing/whatever it's called. When I got there on this latest playthrough, it auto-completed because I was already Rank 9 with that faction.

Get your full stable of frigates, approx 30. The freighter/frigate system is a minigame in NMS. There are some fun vids, or used to be a few years ago, on how to set them up, what to look for, who to recruit, etc. I have 5 of each plus the special ones from rewards, always leaving 1-2 spots open, get one each of the organic ones to add to each run, and call it good. Rewards will increase a lot, but it also makes a difference what system you are in. If you land in one and find good rewards, stay there. Might even want to make a base in that system so if you leave you can easily get back. It's all RNG.

The game loop in NMS is truly sandbox. If you find yourself just duping and otherwise getting rid of all gameplay because it feels like busywork, you might consider re-evaluating your interest in the game. Might have just used up your interest and want to just move on. You can always come back when the itch returns which is what a lot of folks do with expeditions. If three quests are a burden, it might be time to do something different.
