Returning to play - Any progress to fix that alt tab problem?

The years-old posts I found didnt help me with that imense lag after alt tab.
"just dont do the alt tab" - cant, i need it :\

Any news about fixing that? or tips?

Windows key doesn't work for me either. The problem is the game pauses and minimizes when you alt/tab instead of staying running like just about every other game in existence. It's like it has to redraw everything when you alt/tab back to the game.

This. A few games, notably Monster Hunter: World, have issues ALT-TABing that are fixed immediately by swapping to borderless windowed mode and also see major performance improvements. NMS is among that game list and has been for as long as I can remember.

Tried, it works momentarily, but the problem comes back.

In the graphics options simply set the display to be in Borderless and not Windowed on PC. Don't use full screen. (Full screen arguably is a better option for something like a TV display)

If it sometimes flips back then it may be your display settings configuration file is corrupted and you might need to find those settings or file and remove it or rename it for the game to create a new one. It seems like a local file problem and not a game problem. Perhaps back up your game save and make a fresh install if all else fails or at least somehow start the game as if it were new.

Make back ups of files while trying things, which may save time in the end.

I alt-tab all the time and I've never had that issue.

Same, does not happen to me even on ancient laptop or Xbox One X(switch to home or store and switch back to game). Seems to be hardware/OS configuration issue.

I have zero issues alt-tabbing. I run in borderless.

3-4 years ago I had alt-tab problems; on my old PC with ancient hardware.

Hmm I would like to know more. My computer is quite good, not a old one. What you guys have in common and what the guys having the problem from years until now, also have in common?

probably RAM configuration to run in at least dual channel/dual rank. Borderless Fullscreen(as gaming standard nowaday). I always run games on latest Windows update. Not running too many background softwares, services is recommended.

Are you guys saying that alt/tab does not pause and minimize the game in windowed mode? Are you saying you can alt/tab to a browser or some other window and the game keeps on running in the background? Because that is not what happens to me. Alt/tab and windows key does the same thing for me, even in borderless windowed mode. The game will minimize and lag out when I try to bring it back up.

Some people have made a windows 10 product complaint post about it happening in general for them, I'm not sure why.

I've been trying to look on various forums, this happens for multiple people with multiple games, some people claim it's an AMD thing, maybe it's a ram thing.

I have a 5950x and 32 gigabytes of ram, I could have more I could have 64 I guess, but 32 seems to do me ok.

I wish I could help more, it must be a hardware/OS thing though because it's not only this game but a lot of games people complain about.
