Most likely a small content update or enhancement update with an expedition. It will probably NOT be the space station overhaul (as seen in Game Awards anniversary trailer) that will most likely be part of the summer update.
Internal was updated about 3 hours ago, so maybe not a big update but something is going on
NMS is on sale on GoG....
People have been predicting ship customization for years. The only prediction I have ever gotten right is that the next update will not be ship customization.
There is also reckless speculation that the ship is a new type, a racing ship. Star ship racing could be interesting, but we don't need a new ship type for that. Most likely it is a expedition reward.
I vaguely remember some update in the past where I thought they indicated we would have ship racing. It could be nice if we could race against NPCs or a ghost of our last time in addition to multiplayer. There are so many ways to exploit your ship outside the game that anything other than an "unlimited" friendly race with no real game reward would put the heat on HG to become the game cops and start some kind of banning policy.
The game will update sometime between now and the end of the universe. There will be a number of changes, some new features and bugs will be intruded and some old bugs will be squashed. There will then be a number of further patches to remove the new bugs - but possibly resulting in a return of some of the old bugs.
Before the end of the universe, though after I have posted this there may or may not be a new expedition which may, or may not, introduce the new features if those new features are to be introduced by the use of an expedition.
It is highly likely that stairs will still not go where I want to put them in a base. Though I could be wrong about this.
One thing is certain. NMS will not crash so badly as to cause me over an hour of grief rebuilding windows as it now thinks I have a monitor capable of syncing to 74.25hz. I really hope I am right about that and yes I am annoyed, thank you for asking.
Fair point about using exploits in competitive racing. Maybe the "racing" ship is a ship with fixed stats that can not be buffed.
- Starships external loads.... we got rockets but now it's about time we get some homing missiles, anti dreanaught torpedos, drones, etc...
- Starship customisation, at least paintjob.
- Proper starship retailers at space stations.
- More base building parts to play house in our freighters/bases
- bigger player fleet, with more than one freighter.... so we can make one agricultural freigher, one industrial and one command ship.
- New multi-tool weapon.... we dont have a proper combat laser beam yet.... in a scifi set-up that's definitely a bad overlook. Also we only have directed projectile/energy weapons.... when do we get scalar weapons or weapon that attack as a field around us instead of just shooting something in front. Melee weapons.... And of course, like for starships, homing weapons....
- RTS gameplay against sentinels (?). In space (using the fleet) or even on planets.
- Freighter's guns being not only for show.... actually dealing damages to ennemies and situations where this becomes actually usefull (space battle events involving our fleet).... means to improve our freighters weaponry for such occasions.
- Player owned Dreadnaught !
- A starship that turns into some sort of mech when landing, for safe exploration and ground combat.
P.S.: More snapping for easier base building... some elements are a pain to put in place because they dont snap to the grid in prefab parts or freigther rooms.
