Death Loop in Game
Someone at Hello Games, please ban who ever set up a death loop for my character.
I landed to turn in a quest at a planet, I was drawn into someones landing spot and I got transported to some type of trap that kills me over and over since I keep respawning there.
I dont mind if you dig into my save files. Ban these types of people from this game, it's so childish and ruins the community/game for everyone.

Yeah, that sounds annoying. If you run short of a particular resource that you remember having carried with you at that time, just ask.

There is a bug I have encountered a few times with multiplayer enabled. Sometimes I'll take massive damage for no reason when performing any action as if I've been shot by pirate ship laser directly while on foot. It's usually worse during expeditions where the player density is MUCH higher. Above ground or underground doesn't seem to matter when it happens, and It's almost instant death.

You can change difficulty levels at any time outside of expeditions, so there's nothing stopping you from swapping to Creative to get your grave back, then switching to the previous one to go about your business.
God, what a lot of work to set up an event that the griefer will never actually SEE happen ... unless, of course, you post your despair.

So...
Take all the good advice above.

Then, perhaps, delete this thread (or request it be deleted - or request it be deleted - I forget how that works.)

Oh. And STILL consider turning off PvP.

Hopefully, luckily, once the Nexus rotates available Missions, this little hellhole won't be lurking out there any longer.

EDIT: Oh, Good On You, Big Hat! Creatve recovery. in this case, ABSOLUTELY no shame in that!

You inspired me to add into the New Feature Suggestions {actually, too bring back an "old feature"}...

{I was drawn into someones landing spot} Could you explain what you mean by this? There are no tractor beams to force you to land. Also why were you landing on someone elses base to turn in a quest? And explain how you got {transported} to some type of trap what do you mean by transported?
These things you talk about are suspicious!

I don't think anyone commenting here completely read your story because it doesn't make any sense it's not plausible it's questionable. Something else has to be going on. But if it's all true all I can say is that's what you get for playing in multiplayer mode.

It's just your stuff, though, right? Not your tech? Sorry, it's been quite a while since I died; I play a lot of Permadeath.

So, worst case scenario, you have to farm a bunch of stuff up again?
And there are ways to avoid the worst possible outcomes. I always put anything valuable in my ship inventory since I usually avoid picking fights I can't win in the ship- especially on Survival or Permadeath saves. That way if you lose your suit inventory, it is mainly stuff that can be easily gathered again anywhere on most planets. You do have to be methodical and frequent in relocating stuff, but it is worth it.

We're all on PC here, right? Backup your saves before launching the game each day and you will never lose more than a day's worth of progress. All it takes is a batch file like this.

You will have timestamped backup folders of all your saves. Griefers? Laugh at their stupidity!

Some ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ loser set up a trap. It happens. Once in a trap try to report the base from the Quick Menu and the offending base will disappear, often allowing you to escape.

Also, seems to me that you lack adequate hazard protection so you should NOT try running missions yet, until you improve your hazard protection. Some Nexus Missions will send you to nasty planets.

Your inventory is not goen as I said in my previous post.

I will say, if there aren't any I would definitely like for there to be mini-quests involving the acquisition of proper hostile environment equipment.

The problem with this game is there's so much to do so many items, so many things to upgrade, a new player can get lost in it if they don't know what to look for. It so happens that recently I was browsing through exosuit modules and I found the underwater module that I coincidentally needed to do some underwater mining.

It isn't always that serendipitous though, for new players who are overwhelmed by the range of choice in this game, it can be nice to get help to focus on specific goals.

Thank you for reminding me, last night I had a scare where my game crashed as I was exiting.

I'll have to find out the directory for the save files.

I will say that is pretty much a nightmare scenario for me right now, as I am using my aircraft as ad-hoc storage for a lot of things because I have yet to acquire another base storage unit.

I feel bad for the guy whom that happened to, I don't know if it's a bug, it could have been a bug or a toxic glitched design.

However I found my first water world and a settlement, and the entire settlement is floating off the ground about 12 or so feet.

So I don't know if what they encountered was a bug, but sadly it's a good reminder to back up your saves every day.

Do the walking around Settlers fall in the water?

I think we NEED you to post that Glyph string.

Well correction, it is a mostly water world with very scant few small patches of land, seriously I had to fly a long distance before I found any land at all.

So the settlers aren't in the water, but they're standing around on the small island underneath the settlement buildings in a rather awkward way.

P.s. Keep your mind tight... wishing death "IRL" on most anyone, especially on a video game forum, is a sign of extreme emotional weakness and reactions like that only feeds the Fools ego.

^ This :cozybethesda:

Also wondering. If stuck in a "death loop". The loop in itself is created by a player. If offline in NMS and I mean properly offline, don't all player structures/bases disappear? This would open up an opportunity to escape the trap.

During Utopia redo on the switch I got caught in the nomad at the top of a volcano. I ended up in a death loop where I ended up in my base with broken hazard protection and died instantly over and over :(

I gotta get used to not carrying around all of my resources on my character.
This was the first time it ever happened to me.
The ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ made some type of glitch so I went throught a teleporter when I landed with my ship. I ended up in a cave where my terain manipulator couldnt do ♥♥♥♥ and I died within 5-6 seconds. When respawning at very same space I died within 3-4 seconds.
Really annoying how people can do stuff like that, I mean....hours of mining and trading resources going to waste for what, a laugh? I mean, I can understand if he can pick up my lot....but I assume thats not the case. Just doing it for laughs.
People like that is filth, pure trash losers.

Supposedly, "event mission objectives" are restricted from setting down base to claim the area and also it's supposed to not allow anyone to edit the location.

What that player did was; claimed a base at the mission vendor location, just close enough to allow the "tractor beam" of the landing pad they built to overlap where most would attempt to land... placed a teleport on the landing pad in the exact location you land when exiting your ship... then, within the area of the "claimed base", dug a hole and sealed the entrance or, sealed in an existing cave and placed the receiver teleport inside it... set his base to "No Edit" so you cannot dig out.

*Funny thing is, you should be able to step back through the teleporter in the cave to escape back to your ship.

I am thinking he dug a hole for this instead of using "natural cave". He dug it just deep enough, that's how it still interacts with the external/surface heat-environment.

What you might be able to recover your resources/stuff... rerun the mission but when you need to visit the vendor, get close to the ground and land farther away on the surface, approach area by foot... if my guess is right "the cave" should be close to the surface, so you still "might" be able to recover your grave through the surface.

UNless... if "the stuff" you lost is easily come by, simply move on and don't suffer Fools.

I didn't wish for anyone to die, I just wished it would be slow and painful :)
But obviously it was an overreaction, it had just happened and I was tilted so...
It's all good now. We all say stupid things we dont really mean when tilted and angry, no worries.

Oh, wishing them to have a slow, painful death ... IN GAME ... is just fine. :steamhappy:

But if you are sticking with the appropriate venue ... IN GAME ... wish for a mountain to cover up their 50-100 hr construction Main Base. Or even just a delete. The real hurt that is passed out into the RW will be more. :steamhappy:
