Not too difficult to farm them for credits. Planet will always have the same look of ship, but can have different grades of it.
I like the sentinels for the unique view screen, but I prefer the Utopia Speeder (Expedition reward). The golden vector is a very high class ride, but the speeder is much more nimble flying at low level on planet. If I remember right, the sentinels can actually hover...which is a nice feature...mainly if you fight a lot.
I have yet to come across a sentinel that was more than C class, so it will be some work/expense to upgrade it. I kind of grew annoyed with the digital viewscreen pretty quickly and the speeder just feels like Star Wars to me.
Whenever I start a new game I go straight to dissonant systems and find myself sentinel ships to scrap for cash, while I keep the good ones with the best stats. You can actually make a lot of money by just going around and scrapping sentinel ships, it’s just a bit time consuming though. I find that you can always upgrade them later on to do way more damage and perform better in terms of manoeuvrability, so that’s not really a problem for me.
The components of the ship are exactly the same as any other ship, just different names and different materials used to charge and fill them. Eg. Pugneum and atlandideum?
In terms of aesthetics, I personally really dislike how the inside of the cockpit looks, everything looks broken and scrappy. Other than that, I really like the outside because of how funky some designs can be!
Also, just to note, sentinel ship designs and types vary with each system, not planet.
Pros
- Nearly all tech can be replenished with a single fuel supply (Radiant Shards) which are abundant on Dissonant planets and easily harvested, or they can still use one of the "standard" refuelling methods (except launch thrusters)
- Hover mode - they are the only style that has this ability
- Easily obtainable and when a specific design catches your fancy, you can repeatedly hunt/farm for a better class or better supercharged slots layout with the same ship design.
- Equal lowest launch costs
Cons- First person cockpit view - for Lore reasons depicts a mess as the controls have had to be converted for an organic pilot
- Radiant Shards are only found in Dissonant systems
Unless I am playing by a personal ruleset which disallows them (i.e. sticking with upgrading the starter ship only) I always end up using one predominantly over any other ship type (including the Expedition reward ships, Exotics, Living ships, Solar etc). That being said, it's the only ship that can hover.
To answer your question: given that you said it's worth 22M units, it's a C-class. i would scrap it if I needed the money, and keep looking for an A or S... or drop 85,000 nanites on it to upgrade it if I thought it was pretty and wanted to keep it (and was too impatient to spend 8-10 minutes finding another).
I already have two sentinels, though... one's a decent-looking starfighter type, and the other one is a "bug"; essentially just a cockpit and landing gear.
Assuming you found the first one with a Harmonic Camp, you should be aware that the "quest" you got it from is repeatable... just go back to the console and do it again after you scrap that C.
Luckily, there is a mod that removes this, it works well:

They are versatile, have great cargo hold as starting feature, and real killer machines.
Plus they hover, which has several benefits. Such as perfect for picture taking.

The true hover ability is their main plus. If you get used to that, it's hard to go back. I don't find them any clunkier to control overall, once you stick some tech mods in there.
They do have a certain - whiny? whirring? grinding? - sound while flying/hovering at times that I don't like overmuch, but it's tolerable.
There is a bit of a shimmering red-line grid graphic effect that faintly pops up now and then, but for me not very often, and I barely notice. It's not a constantly-there thing. I'm not sure what triggers it, for me at least it doesn't seem to be simply a timer. Other than that I don't really notice anything either.
To me the largest irritation is how it can color the worldview purple-ish. I also have no idea what dictates how strong that effect is, but I notice it especially on dissonant planets (vs. when in other ship types on same dissonant planet), and when I want to use the screenshot mode. If I land/jump out, the screenshot mode is not purple-ish/the planet's actual color filters are in effect, if I stay in the interceptor cockpit to use it, it's way more purple. >.>
Please tell me more about the process of scrapping sentinel ships.
Do you mean from the esc menu? Where the missions are, how does that work exactly? Because I'd be up for doing that a few times, I mean I've grinded way worse things in GTA online for cash, 22m a pop give or take sounds really good, I don't need a ton of money right now, the most expensive thing I'm eyeing is 2m.
No problems! The process of scrapping ships is fairly simple; there are two main methods I think? Process number one is where you engage in fighting the sentinels and end up destroying their freighter, rewarding you with a unique device (I can’t remember the name) that allows you to scan the nearby planets for “Dissonant spikes”. This is the crashed ship that you’re looking for.
The second method is just flying low to the planet’s surface and keeping an eye out for a crashed sentinel ship.
After you find the crashed ship, interact with it, and you’ll find a Hyaline Brain I think? You will then receive a small quest-like prompt to take the brain to the nearest ruin in order to harmonise it and insert it back into the ship. You can then fly it the space station and scrap it for cash, upgrades and storage augmentations.
No, I wouldn’t suggest fighting the sentinels just yet, however if you’re playing on normal difficulty then you could give it a go if you want. The sentinels really aren’t that hard to fight compared to other games. Try searching up other different methods too though. Good luck.
