How to remove the sentry

The sentry is annoying, how can I remove it? It ALWAYS gets in my way.

Sorry, the annoying little bot I didn't trigger, it was just there when I started the game. That is the sentry I am referring to. There is no inventory box (that I know of) or I would trigger it. The cute little blue one.

You aren't, by chance, referring to the little round globe that's attached to your jetpack, are you? That's not a pet, nor removable. It's part of your ... outfit/gear.

I do not know how to post the picture I have of it. I have shot at it often, does no good. It is blue. I have a screenshot of it.

What mode are you playing (Normal, Survival, Permadeath, Relaxed, Creative)?

You are describing the Sentry which is a converted Sentinel "Pet/companion" called "Laylaps". It is not usually enabled from the start of the game and the quest to provide it results in an item in your inventory that allows you to turn it on/off. I've never played Relaxed/Creative so it may appear from the start in those modes?

Just to interject, that video of how to post screenshots is absolutely useless if your game isn't in Steam, and almost useless anyways. My steam interface is default and it never looks like what they show in these how-to videos.

It's just one of many. Pick one that helps you. This one has the advantage of being really short.
Can otherwise go to player forums. Even Steam has a guide.
Also, if one posts on Steam forum, I find it reasonable to assume one's game has been bought via Steam.
It worth to at least try to post a screenshot, cause meanwhile no one can help the OP at this stage ...

Re: screenshots - not everyone uses the Steam overlay/HUD that creates/allows the thumbnail pic posting links. I, for example, am aware of but do not/never have. :)

If you're not using that overlay/screenshot feature, and are taking screenshots with some other program, you'd have to either use a small program someone made, called SteaScree (at least that's what I know of/have used) to convert a not-Steam-overlay taken screenshot to Steam's file system, or upload your screenshot to a 3rd party webhost (like IMGUR) and copy/paste the text-only link in the forum.

Re: this mysterious sentry - sounds like either a mod gave them something early/without having to do something, if it is indeed that little bot. I have never started full on Creative either so also no clue there.

Step by step for embedded images in Steam.
1 - take your screenshot with the Steam screen capture (default F12), not the in game photo mode. The photo mode excludes all HUD elements, including the glyphs.
2 - In your Steam Library, select the game and click the image in the Post-game activity or the Screenshots section, either of which open the Screenshot Manager (or open Screenshot Manager using the View Menu: View>Screenshots).
3 - Find the screenshot you want to share on the left and add a caption and set visibility options on the right, then click upload.
4 - Once uploaded, click the View online button (not the copy link share button - that only gives a non-embeddable link).
5 - From the Community screenshot page that appears, the link can be copied from the Steam browser address bar or you can select Share to get a more visible copyable link.
Link should look like steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=(number)
6 - Paste that link into the forum post.

upload it to an image hosting site and give us a link to it there... imgur is well known...

this seriously sounds like you have Laylaps but do not have the Flare device that comes with it... that has been known to happen with some mods... especially if it happens at the very beginning of the game... i do not know about NMS creative mode, though... i only play Normal unless an expedition forces a different mode on us...

so, if you have any mods installed, remove them and start a new game... if Laylaps is still there, something else is going on...
