Hello Games and iam8bit have joined forces to create the No Man's Sky "Explorer's Edition" (PC), a deluxe collector's set as ambitious as the game itself.

Like all of iam8bit's products, this is a lovingly crafted package, designed to evoke a sense of space nostalgia via the inclusion of a tin toy-style ship replica. We've spared no expense to achieve hyper-detail, constructing the ship from a high-quality metal cast and then hand-painting each with precision. And much like the game, this collectible allows for a personal touch, providing an array of decals that can be applied to the ship's body.

Seriously, this isn't your average, run-of-the-mill resin statue! It's actual metal - involving a much more complex production process, harkening back as far as the 1900s (when tin toys were all the rage). Trust us, holding this cold, metal beauty in your hands is immensely satisfying. It's a true labor of love.

I bought this, but I'm wondering if I'll get the pre-order ship, too, since I didn't buy this through Steam (although I will receive a Steam key from iam8bit). I really want that pre-order ship in the game...

You just might have to buy it again???

Am I the only one who gets suspicious every time someone does a breakdown like that? I mean you see all those bundles these days with x is of y value and the value is always completely arbitrary and also seems kind of defensive out of the gate. Like when lockboxes in free to play games claim it's not gambling by saying the vendor trash postions you got are totally worth the key price on average.

You can probably spend the rest of you life trying to find that ship through chance as well :P each ship is uniqe so none will be special.

And you will be forced to buy new ships eventually if you want to get close to the center (gets harder towards it) and you can only have one ship at a time as far as we know.

Pre-order ship is nothing special.
Afaik, you can only have 1 ship at a time.
When you get a bigger & better ship, you eventually have to sell it.
Probably most of us will replace it on day 1.
So don't worry about it.

I would pay for a ship that comes as a base/ every thing you need?

It's a shame you can't get the limited edition version for PC (i.e. with the 48-page art book etc) would quite like that.

What I assume is used for the die-cast ship's price is the cost of production. But that's not what it's really worth. Things are worth what people are willing to pay for them. If someone will bid several million dollars on a painting, that painting is worth those several million dollars. So if what ShadowBoxer says is true, that they will sell for a few hundred on eBay after launch, then that's what they are worth. Then again you're taking a risk that the ship will never sell, that the profit margin won't be high enough to be worth your time (since time is money), or, quite simply, that you'll break it.
