CROSSPLAY with ps4

I am struggling to join a friend on their PS4, while I am on PC. I thought I read that crossplay was allowed between pc, xbox, and playstation. Am I doing something wrong ?
All of the settings, including enabling crossplay and allowing "anyone" to join, as well as both of us adding each other as friends have happened. Anyone else experience this issue?

You need to make sure you are both running the same version, including patches. Also is the PC player in regular or experimental? The multiplayer aspect of this game was added as an after thought, and they are still working out the bugs. Cross play made that even more difficult. But, they have a good record of 'repairing' the game and upgrading it, so they may get all that working correctly in time.

Is one of you in game and the other trying to join their game through the starting menu? There should be a list of games running that you can join. I have played PC-PS5 crossplay successfully. It should work the same as any other platform. You both also need to playing the same game mode (expedition / normal / permadeath).

Ah. that might be the issue, one of us is not playing in perma-death.

SO to confirm, console and pc CAN PLAY WITH EACH OTHER, but the other player must be also be on permadeath if you are playing on permadeath mode too. Otherwise, this is not an issue
