[SOLVED] Expedition 11 Redux: 20.0pav fauna... WHERE?!?!?!
I've scouted through an entire system to find only an 18.8 aggression fauna, where is one that is close to the expedition spawn? Planet name, location, anything that'll help me find one!!!!

Caustic Nightmare (Toxic) planet in the first system, it's a rare underwater creature.

I found onw somewhere else, on a hot planet in the same system as rendezvous point 1. Wasn't even looking for it, but it sure came looking for me!

Found 20.1 on a 'Toxic Horror" planet, this type of planet is infested with Hungering Tendrils and big worms.

The starting planet for the previous redux expedition has Storm Crystals, easy 600u hills and TWO butt-hole aggressive fauna and yes one of them satisfies the milestone.

That toxic horror planet is really delightfully horrible, I had not visited it until just now, when I needed some fungal mould for planting. But yeah, I can see how you can reach objectives here, heheh

So how the hell are you guys finding this darn creature? I been hitting up multiple large bodies of water and I still haven't found it.

IIRC, if the critter is rare, go deep... all the rare crab-like critters i find are deep and i suspect the same goes for most rare water critters...

I'm tempted to do just this. I can't find this animal anywhere.

Edit.

... and so I did. This also fulfills the "Travel By Portal" milestone. So... two birds, one stone.

It's this guy:

As a general rule for finding all fauna on a planet - scan everything. The general rule of thumb was the more things (flora, minerals, fauna) that have been scanned on a planet, the more likely rare fauna generate. I don't know if it's been debunked, but it sure works for me.

Find a big body of water- with only islands. You will know you are in a good spot if the water is deep and you see specific underwater flora/mineral types that only shows up in deep water.

In my experience, it takes a bit (about 2 minutes or so) for the predator large fish to show up and start feasting on the smaller fish. So, I guess that is another tip, never seen them spawn in if there no other fish in the area- so stick around where the fish are.
THANK YOU ALL I'VE BEEN GENUINELY TWEAKING TRY TO FIND THEM

Thanks for that!! I just went back to that planet and found it near a base that someone set up. A very helpful person has a base there with plants and some activated copper

Well hey, you bumped the discussion I wasn't having any luck finding. Thank you for that.

So what I'm hearing here is that it's not the giant worm I've spent a day trying and failing to scan?

For future reference, the giant worms typically aren't scannable... despite their red dot indicating that you might be able to.

Sometimes having an image helps - this fish is quite large and swims alone. I flew to a large ocean area on the planet, landed on a tiny island and within a couple minutes this dude swam right up to me.
