It ran fine somewhere in the range of 70-90 fps with all settings maxed out at 1440p. Something is very wrong with your PC if NMS "barely runs" on it.
It's completely unplayable on an i5-12600k, 64GB, SSD, 3060 Ti when linked via USB-C cable that tested over 2.5Gbps, but the controls were everywhere, jittery as heck, so I knew there was something else going on there. There's something about the Oculus app and SteamVR that just doesn't mix so well. It's like they were fighting each other for control. Hours of trial and error, and I could never work out a solution using Oculus Link (WiFi OR cable) + SteamVR.
However, once I tried with Steam Link and took Oculus Link out of the mix, everything was peachy. I could even turn my resolution and graphics settings up a touch. It honestly looks pretty good, and that's on a "mid-tier" gaming PC.
I can even run it fine via Steam Link on my aging GTX 970 machine. On mostly lower settings, sure, but it runs.
Whatever's going on with the Oculus + SteamVR layers is seriously impacting things, and on more than just this game, in my experience. If it's just Oculus and no Steam, it's fine. If it's just Steam and no Oculus, it's fine. At least, for me it is.
I agree. I just bought a Link Cable to see if that would improve performance but SteamLink has everyone beat right now but I would still prefer to pay for the game again on the Quest Store not only to support the developer but so I can play it easier on the quest.
Oh, for sure. If it could be done on the Switch, it can be done on the Quest 3. I was just adding to the point about resources vs. configuration, and that it doesn't take nearly as much as what is often claimed.
I'd be willing to play for dumbed down graphics as long as all the controls and playability and features are there.
Thanks for the bump. Again, I love supporting the developers and own this game on all systems and bought it for my sons on their own systems. If this game works on the switch it should be able to function on Quest 3
From my understand thats for 1st Party games. Xbox, Nintendo, and Sony are allowing people to upgrade for free. The reason why we are seeing this on Xbox and Sony because games made for these systems were made for people who do not like video games but like to write about video games and sales have been horrible and more people are playing retro games.
I'm not going to lie I fully intend to buy the Switch 2 to play old games.
