I am assuming you mean the sentinel dogs. HG has changed so much up I just avoid fighting unless it is required for some purpose.
In general, don't engage Sentinels unless you have well upgraded weapons and enjoy fighting them or need some resource, like a Walker Brain. It's pointless otherwise.

Jumin' jesus I'd advise against that... unless you're after the "Died from being stupid" title
Edit: to be clear... I already have that title... so, um, yeah
If a single enemy is annoying, just stun them with a Paralysis Mortar. It does not even require advanced materials to craft one. Of course, it helps to have decent DPS on your tool, but I think you will do just fine, once you learn how to pin them down :)
Happy hunting
It makes any sentinel fight a walkover - especially if you have the Voltaic Amplifier as well (increases damage to stunned enemies by up to 50% if it's in a supercharge slot).
Thanks
Gonna find me some Sentinels for continuing experimentation :)
Edit: Sentinel results just as entertaining :) It freezes the Quads and I think de-cloaks them too.
Though I generally avoid fighting sentinels past the basic flying drone types until I have some S-class health/shield and weapon upgrades.
It works on monstrosities too!?! Thought it was just sentinels. We've both learnt something today
To counter the latter attack mode: I'll only voluntarily engage them when I'm able to get above them, out of the reach of their leaping ability: like on the roof of a building, top of a ship, etc., so they're not a significant threat to me.
As for weapons: paralysis mortar followed by blaster; rinse & repeat as needed.
With that you can take out groups of 2 to 4 flying sentinels with one shot rendering the Paralysis Mortar unnecessary OR you could use it as a time-out so you can set off like 3 or 4 emotes while the Sentinel's dance the paralysis jig™
The stun helps with all the sentinel enemies and makes everything very easy once you understand how it works and can use it effectively. Practice on easy stuff first.
Depending on your tool, might put the amplifier in a superslot to lengthen stun time even more.
If you are early game don't get too excited about not having all the top equipment yet. You can kill anything with a B gun, just not as fast. Boltcaster is fine, start looking for the upgrades and know that the most important option is RATE OF FIRE. 19% x 3 is good, but to really understand weapons in this game go watch a couple Utubers wax on about it. At first it may not make much sense but at some point you will get it. It is a fairly complex mini game.
I would not use grenades for reasons noted above unless you want the stupid title, which is good to do on purpose so you can see how easily you will kill yourself. LOL
