This sounds an awful lot like my No Man's Sky multiplayer experience, since... well, ever. My wife and I play side by side (yay gamer bonding), and we, too, have constant problems with fights not being on each other's screens.
One really fun bit was when I shot the space station and a bunch of sentinels showed up... I killed one of the interceptors, then chased the other dozen or so halfway across the system while she was running her behind off to get away from them; she couldn't even see them, but they didn't seem to have any issues hitting her.
No Man's Sky's multiplayer kinda has a rep for being "playing solo, but together". I'm not aware of any fixes for it, and we've been playing together for about 3 years now.
Most NMS multiplayer goes like this:
- hi
- hi
- cool base
- thanks
- later
- later
And that is a shame. I am happy it seemed to duplicate the S Class Ship we found laying around but that was it. Sad the MP is scuffed this hard still.
You got super lucky; crashed ships are one of the things that it typically does not duplicate; if someone grabs that sweet S-class before you do, you typically have to wait something like a week for it to "respawn".
That's why people say to turn off multiplayer before ship-hunting coords from the internet.
How weird. The duplicating of ship and fighting in space is generally what causes our desync. Most everything else is 'stable - ish"
