Larval Cores in Cartographers Redux

I've found two Abandoned Buildings on different planets, tried to collect the Larval Cores, and they never appear when I destroy the eggs (not even to fall through the map, they just don't appear). Am I doing something wrong? They're not coming up as mission rewards from the Space Station either. Am I supposed to run the Derelict Freighter instead?

Edit: I've tried two different planets. The Larval Core isn't appearing at all for me to pick up. Nothing happens when the egg disappears. I could understand a map issue on one planet, but on two it's weird.

The Derelict Freighter had 4 Larval Cores on it, but not until the final room. It's incredibly slow compared to Abandoned Buildings though.

Someone said, try a different planet. You should have a flyable ship by now.

As soon as I see the larval core pop out I hold the "e" key, even if it drops below you can "usually" get it.

Also try and find the double-wide building, nearly twice as many chances and you can literally shoot one egg and then walk to the next group... the monstrosities are not that smart.

This. Just shoot and "e". They will show up in your inventory. Use that muscle memory,

It’s the radioactive planet straight out from the Space Station in the starting system. It also has Ancient bones too.
