Turn Multiplayer off. That is the only way.

Yes, this is one of several ongoing problems with this game that the devs just plain refuse to fix. You should be able to accept or refuse or permanently disable such donations. So yeah, right now turning off multiplayer is the only way.

Giving/accepting gifts is not cheating. Personally, I often give small gifts to players who helped me in a Nexus mission and I also give them to players who ask for them in the anomaly. So the gifts I receive from unknown players in the anomaly can be used by other players who request them. And, if these gifts are in my way, I throw them away.

Um, I mean sure that works but sometimes it's fun to just watch the antics of other players.

The easiest way without turning MP off is to fill your exosuit inventory (not sure it goes to your ship, requires testing).

To do that, simply split a stack of something you already have until you've filled all the slots.

PS It's 100% not cheating regardless of "how" the other player obtained the items... all you have to do is hold the middle mouse button to SCRAP the items. Ez-Pz :nmsatlas:

What he meant is that the giver probably obtained these items using a save editor. Nobody carries around billions worth of stuff to give away. Yes, sometimes players ask for stuff but there should be a mechanism to approve or decline trades as it can be annoying and ruin the experience to some people.

It's not cheating, just can feel annoying to some.
It's just like all these commercials you get in the mailbox: use them if you want, delete them otherwise.

Yes, the mechanism of giving is legit in itself but the actual items given away are probably not. So yeah, some players are strongly put off by this.

At the very least it would be polite to ask before foisting a billion units worth of goods onto someone.

You would be surprised. You can reach the money cap in no time, and you end up with thousands of expensive items that are worthless to you.

bounce it back or delete it

I know, I've been playing 1500 hours.
As stated above, giving or accepting gifts is not cheating. When I play in multiplayer mode with friends, we often exchange items with each other from derelict freighter missions, nexus missions, fights with sentinels, or while building bases, because one of us might need one or two of the items that the others don’t need or have handy.

However, this feature can sometimes be a problem in the Anomaly. I remember one time a while back I visited the Anomaly from a system where my freighter was currently parked. Somebody randomly gave me so many Stellerator donuts that it filled all available slots in my exosuit, starship, and freighter storage. I saved a few of them, gave away a bunch, and deleted the rest. It actually became an inventory management problem for me because of the quantity. If he/she had given me 5 or 10 of them that would have been fine, I would have said “thanks” and moved on.

it is strange they would just not have a disable option for this but money is so easy to get in this game anyway that I don't even know why people still bother to give gifts in the anomaly

lots of people defending cheating on this thread very weird JMO

would be easy to just have an option to deny trades. hopefully Light no fire can prevent these CHEATERS from ruining my game

It's not cheating, though? It's a legitimate game mechanic such that, for instance, people playing co-op can share resources between themselves. I will often give away multi-tool expansion slots and freighter cargo expansion slots and frigate salvage modules in the anomaly. I don't cheat to get them. I get them legitimately, mostly at crashed freighter sites that I find often because I do a lot of planet exploration, both on foot and from the air. I just don't need that many of them for the way that I play, so when I have a stack or two squirreled away and have time to sit in the anomaly a while, I'll head there and ask if anyone wants them. Usually, someone does, and then I'll tell them where I'm sitting to come and get it.

I get that having unsolicited stuff randomly dumped on you can be annoying, and I agree that there ought to be some way to refuse unwanted gifts, but I wouldn't assume that everyone cheats to get the stuff they give away. And if you don't want the stuff, just discard it. It's not a big deal. If your game is "ruined," it's only because you chose to keep and sell the stuff instead of simply discarding it.
