Scan unique plants quest for Gek

I jumped to the system where I'm supposed to scan the plants of a specific planet, but after visiting all the planets in the system, nothing triggered to tell me which planet or how many plants I should scan. Any suggestions?

Usually those missions will say "scan X number of flora on planet Y" Scan any flora you find and when you have scanned X number the mission will complete. If the mission is active you should see a prompt in the lower right saying "Scanned x of X..."

If that is what what the prompt is saying then i don't know what mission you have.

Make sure the mission is highlighted. Try restarting. Scan 8 plants on each planet.

If you have the mission active, you will normally get a notice when you are in the atmosphere of the planet that it is where you need to work. Jump out, scan your little heart out and it will alert you when you have achieved the number.

Be aware that some plants will look the same but are treated as different plants by the game. (same goes for rocks) Also there are sometimes plants in caves and underwater. Not uncommon for the hazardous plants to be considered different on various sectors of the planet.

Most of the time that last paragraph is not helpful, but you can run into a planet with minimal plant life and you really have to work at it to get your numbers.

Remember to use the Scan function to highlight Oxygen, Sodium, and Boost flowers too.

I had the mission highlighted, flew to every planet in the system I was told to jump to, scanned 10 plants on each one, still nothing triggered. In the end I just abandoned the mission.

the mission is probably on a different star, always check your log to see if the mission requests it and go to the star map to look for the leaf icon

Yeah, I have actually "followed the line in the G map" to the icon system and accidentally picked the wrong system that was very close. Sometimes your perspective in the G map can be a bit confusing to differentiate between two very close systems. (at least from the point of view you are currently looking).

The correct planet will say Floral survey location if you scan it in space.

I was in the correct system with the leaf icon displayed, but when I scanned all the planets, nothing showed up. I picked up another Gek mission from another system to get the two I needed, but kinda annoying to have wasted all that time on something that wasn't going to work.
