If you scrap your first this, the second will be summoned. If you trade your first ship the new ship will be your first ship. There is no way to change that in game, you could use a game editor to shuffle things around.
go over to the circle icon with circles radiating above it, summon starship.
you didn't help whatsoever lmao
He is a space station scrapping ships . You can't use the X menu there.
they simply asked how to summon another ship.
the x menu is how to do so even if you have to be on a planet or in your freighter to do so.
dunno why you think you're helping when everything you have said so far is the opposite of helpful.
@shaken: read the op. lindy answered it. effalunts and foozles...
nowhere in lindys comments did they bring up how to summon a ship other than when they replied to me to say it won't work in the space station, (duh,)
@OP sorry for how some people try to use the discussions to flex their brain power and explain things that have nothing to do with your post.
OPs question was:
i'll answer the question once more.
to switch starships you have to land on a planet and summon it with the x button, if you own a freighter you can switch docked ships the same way if the other ships aren't spawning for any reason.
If you are on a planet surface, you use the quick menu as described by Shaken-Widow to immediately summon another ship. Your existing ship will still be there (you'll be able to see them both) but the summoned one will become your active ship.
If you are in a Space Station, you cannot switch ships, other than by trading for a brand new ship or scrapping (as you have been doing) which will automatically summon your lowest numbered ship (as described by Lindy Bomber).
If you are in the Anomaly/Nexus you CAN use the quick menu whereby the summoned ship will replace your active ship on its pad.
If you own a freighter, six out of the nine landing pads in the hangar are designated for your collection and they will be in there whenever you summon your freighter. If you own more than six, six of them will be randomly selected and you can just enter your desired ship. You can use the quick menu to summon one of your other ships if it is not already parked in the hangar to replace your active ship.
lindys comment still didn't tell them how to summon the ship, all it did was tell us about how many ships we own and how it will spawn the next one when you scrap it. - completely useless info in terms of the question from OP
please stop supporting people who are unhelpful, you're also being unhelpful.
others have noted i answered the question.
you have been reported.
sorry OP for those who wanna measure their piss sticks, i hope you got some help from this.
Was it complete? No. The OP probably needed a bit more info on where they would have to go to be able to summon a ship they wanted from their collection rather than getting a ship they wanted to occupy their auto-summon slot.
You subsequently partially provided that but then started with your unnecessary attitude. Take a chill pill.
I interpreted your question as asking how to change what ship appears when you scrap a ship. Others interpreted as how to summon a different ship. I hope between the two answer yo found what you were looking for. Sorry for the drama.
Incidentally, there is a convoluted way to change it in game, but it is high risk and can be costly depending on ship values. I recommend backing up the save file manually before attempting... I have just re-rested this in game to make sure it still works in 4.4.
For simplicities sake, let's say you have 2 ships, SHIP A is in slot #1 and SHIP B is in slot #2.
SHIP A is your auto-summon. Ship B is your active preferred ship.
Go to a planet side trade platform in SHIP B.
Land (or use the terminal) to place it on the platform with three pads (for speed of transition). Summon SHIP A on the ground. Use the terminal to place it on the pad next to SHIP B. Keep SHIP A as active. Wait for an NPC to land on the third pad - let's call their ship SHIP C.
Immediately trade SHIP A for SHIP C. SHIP C is now in your slot 1.
Get in and out of SHIP B and trade ships with the NPC who now owned SHIP A.
Get in and out of SHIP C and trade with the NPC who now owned SHIP B.
You have effectively swapped SHIP A and SHIP B and given the NPC back their SHIP C.
SLOT 1 | SLOT 2 | Trader
SHIP A | SHIP B | SHIP C (NPC)
SHIP C | SHIP B | SHIP A (NPC)
SHIP C | SHIP A | SHIP B (NPC)
SHIP B | SHIP A | SHIP C (NPC)
The reason this is high risk is that the NPC could take off in one of your ships before you complete the trades and you'd have to wait and hope for them to return.
